NGD: Ibanez 2377 SG Pro copy (early 70s) "Dusty"

well yes, this is the "bad gut feeling" guitar from the other thread. the seller was weird... he wanted €2000 for it at first, then i got it for a bit more than 10% of that price, but it wasn't easy. he's the original owner (incl. cool old strap!), played "some Smoke on the Water" on it, then got into an accident in the mid 80s and never played it again.... and let it dust up.

i've been wanting a decent P90 guitar for a while now, and ever since i snagged that Ibanez "lawsuit" SG bass i knew i HAD to get this one too. IT HAZ BIGZBY! :w00t:

so when i got it... i mean... you know me. i love beat and grimey. but this was... well, just look... :wtf:

so i've had some bad experiences with Clorox wipes, and i didn't want it to lose any glossy finish if it had any. so it was a painstaking but not TOO intensive cleaning porcess (i don't like 'em too shiny, either).

under all the grime it it ALMOST flawless, except for one knick/knock/chip caused during the badly packed shipping (...), on the low E side of the bridge and the wood under it.
but i can live with that.

now strung with a nice set of Boomers (11-50), i only need to lube the nut a bit and we're ready to rumble!
LOVING the looks and sounds of this one, even though it has a quite unusual neck (kinda like a "soft V", if that does exist...)

so this is an early 70s "pre-serial", rather rare model, copy if an SG Pro. not the finest of all SG's but hey, P90s!
unusual is the double bound white/black binding on the neck.

wednesday is rehearsal day, we'll see how she behaves in high volumes (HH V-S Musician head into 4x12 turned LOUD!)

so... it was long ago since the last NGD, but another cheapie is on the way. then i'll stop...
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

Whoa! I'd bet even Gibson branded SG Pros are a bit rare. LP guard with extra front cover for the electronics. Super cool!!

I have an Antoria-branded version of this and it's lovely...
