Year-belated NGD: 1977 Gibson ES175 Thinline
Talk about patience and delayed gratification: I bought this guitar from forumite B on February 2017 (it was a major impulse buy on my part). He had it promptly shipped to my friend in NY who would eventually bring it down to Argentina. Eventually turned in 1+ year, which was was longer that we both my buddy and I had anticipated. I had the chance of checking out the guitar on my last trip to NY in September, but couldn't bring it with me as I was already hauling a lot of gear. In any case, a couple of weeks ago my friend finally gets his ticket, gets the guitar in a gigbag and takes him with him on the plane. Because true friends are like that . In retrospect, I should have paid someone to bring me the guitar earlier -a year is a long time to have a "parked" guitar - but hey, I'm glad it's here.
The guitar is amazing. After a year of sitting in a case, I just barely fiddled with the position of the bridge to get the intonation straight. It doesn't need anything else at all. The frets are low and worn as they come, but there isn't a single buzz in all of the neck. The action is generously low (didn't adjust the height of the bridge). It feels incredibly smooth to play. Unplugged it sounds really loud and when plugged sounds great: big and warm and fat. Being a Jazzmaster player mostly, this is a really different instrument for me. Finish is gorgeous, the wear on the back on the neck feels great and shows this thing's been loved. It's easy to tell why. Here are a few pics, the ones B had taken prior to the sale were oh so much better but they are gone now.

AFAIK It was made only in 1976-78, so they are fairly rare.Don_Karnage wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:39 amThat looks gorgeous! Don't know they made a thinline version

I’d wait a year for that!
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
