NGD! '74 Tele Deluxe
yes, 2nd NGD this week...I went a little crazy, I guess.
Anyway, ooo wee this thing sounds amazing. i've had some MIM Tele Deluxe reissues that I put Lollars and 1k pots in, but this just has a little bit more of something. Such clarity even pushing the front of an amp hard. So much

Lovely!
One of the few exceptions where I prefer the look of a maple neck over a rosewood one. I'm still not a fan of how maple feels though.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Same here (though not an exception), I actually had to sell my make fretboard guitars because I disliked the touch... Maybe it was just the lack of raw wood. Should try baked make.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 1:36 amOne of the few exceptions where I prefer the look of a maple neck over a rosewood one. thanks! yeah, I am normally firmly in the rosewood fretboard camp - Tele Deluxes are my big exception.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 1:36 amLovely!

maybe just a more straight ahead Tele, too, but I still think I'd always go for a rosewood board.
this one doesn't feel too weird - maybe just because it's over 40 yo and has been played a good deal?
here's a question for ya - what's more aesthetically displeasing - one of the new Jazzmasters with maple fretboards, or a custom color Strat with a maple fretboard and matching headstock?

The latter. I really like maple boards, but those constellations you mentioned are nasty.
Congrats on your new guitar! I'd love to have one too

Thanks, dudes! This thing really is sounding great.
Played it through a bandmate’s high-powered tweed-type amp last night - just KILLER.

Killer.
At first I wondered why you'd photographed it in a rubber life raft. Then I came to my senses.

thanks, folks!
I currently have the wound E string off this guitar and am Keith Richards-ing my ass off with it - perfect for that sound.

Wow, that's a beauty. I normally am not a big fan of telecasters aesthetically, but for some reason I love the tele deluxes. I think I'm in the minority that really likes that huge 70s headstock.

Re: NGD! '74 Tele Deluxe
the headstock is a huge reason for me why i love the tele deluxe!!! (that said, i've warmed up to teles and their little headstock over the years. mostly after i bought a tele and realized it's basically the best guitar i've ever played in 20 years)paulnewman wrote: ↑Sun Apr 01, 2018 2:44 amWow, that's a beauty.
