Ugly.

I think it used to belong to Pete Townshend as well, but not sure about that.
He’s clearly been smashing the wrong guitars.

Super true, and no, i wouldn't be slightly interested if it weren't him.
Tacky as hell, but that was the style. Also, those PT guitars reflect the ''heavier is betterer , add more brass'' mentality that prevailed.
So, why do I care?
My telecaster is green, and I need something fun to think about.

HAW :D

I love green and gold on a guitar, but those figured tops and transparent color finishes are kinda gross...
This is an excellent rectangle

I found an 80's duncan zebra, and decided to settle for an anodidized guard.
Bridge pickup is an antiquity '55-something.
anyway, it sounds really good. That neck pickup is great, usually i don't go for HB's.
I've been selling some things off, and finishing some projects while I wait to get my fingers back.

It's pictured here with my new Roland. Just traded some stuff for it yesterday. '75, like brand new. Came from a studio somewhere in eastern PA.
love it, love it, love it.

Glad to hear people think this guitar is as ugly as I do. I thought I was losing my mind there for a second, and I say that as a huge fan of both Teles and Johnny Marrs.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

:-* the update though!!!!

Totally better than the original IMHO. Maybe I won't feel this way once quilted tops come back into fashion :P , but I prefer this as a reimagining of what the original guitar SHOULD have looked like.

thanks.
close enough for me.
I've found a couple brass guards, but both were $200+, which is too much for something I'd probably hate in 2 weeks time.

Good lord, that Roland amp looks like it just left the factory! Amazing!

Anyway, your guitar is prettier than the 80s original!

Also i have to say i hate those top of the pops 80s shows. Everyone was made to lip sync over their recordings. so lame.
Have you seen the Nirvana TOTP performance?

Lovely little moment in music history.

What I've always found strange about that tele is it appears to have some sort of birds eye maple body instead of the usual ash you'd expect to see on a 50's telecaster....

Always thought this was kind of the "odd man out" in Johnny's guitarsenal. He has such impeccable taste in guitars otherwise. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

well, yeah i know.

If you look in your stash, and you see a green telecaster, you get excited about other green telecasters...
I'm thinking that most of you are younger than I am. There was a time when that guitar was completely unremarkable.

btw, there's a shiny brass guard on the way. We'll see if i have the nerve to use it.
it's so shiny... 8)
