NVGD: 1967 Fender Telecaster

Post by kracdown » Mon Feb 12, 2018 8:44 pm

Posted this on another form, but thought you guys might also enjoy...

Finally got one of my dream pieces... A nice transition era Telecaster. It's lightweight (under 7 pounds) and all original. Needs a refret and a wiring harness (old one is wired old school, would rather just drop in a new set or just say whatever), and it's ready for daily use. Cool to see it next to my Danocaster, my #1 Tele which I got in 2013.

Only crappy iPhone pics for now, but you get the idea. Image

Very nice indeed!

I have an almost identical '66 Tele. What's the neck like on yours? I've played another '67 and it had a fairly chunky neck, whereas my '66 has a quite slim/flat neck.

Ohmy. :-* :derp: :-*

This is basically my dream guitar. I could easily get by with my Martin and Hofner Club bass and this — no problem. Congratulations on such an amazing acquisition!!
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Yeah ... the more I look at that guitar the more I start to like maple cap necks!

I'd love a nice old Telecaster, so proper job! I hope you get many happy years of enjoyment out of it.

The neck is actually nice and medium chunky. It feels maybe just a bit less chunky than my Danocaster Chunky C (.86 at the nut I believe), but very similar. Nothing at all like the flat thin neck on my '66 JM.

Yes - I only do sell offs when I need something. I've been dreaming of one of these for a few years, so I was glad to move a couple guitars around, even though they were all fantastic.

At first I was set on a rosewood board, but the more and more I looked at, I really started digging the maple caps. They just look "right" to me. It's also nice to have something that isn't exactly like my Danocaster. The neck definitely one of my favorite parts about it. I can't wait till I get this refret and can literally play this every day forever...
