1979 Ibanez Roadster
After seeing these in the thread about the blue Telemaster where people were talking about pickup rings, I was intrigued by these guitars. I saw the one guard kind with basswood bodies. (The Roadstar ones vs Roadster.) This one is a birth year one and the bridge is a beautiful piece of metal and I think the body color is beautiful. I like the details they put into these. The block that holds the strings on the back. The toggle to cut the output to more vintage vs the hotter stock sound. It sounds like they wrapped the pickups in shielding. It just looks like the design people put good effort to the design. Excited to try it out when it comes in.

Very nice! I had a Blazer bass from the same era that was a real treat to play. Ibanez definitely had their A game back then.

I like that bridge, I wish I still had access to a vertical mill...

I am a sucker for interesting and different looking bridges. Peavey made some cool looking ones in the past also.

That is right up there with their Artist guitars of the 70's.

Re: 1979 Ibanez Roadster
Guitar came and is pretty awesome! The pickups have pretty high output. It overdrives my Silvertone like humbuckers tend to. Pickups do pick up noise from my laptop and such, but they are pretty cool sounding. Here is a quick cruddy demo of how it sounds. The mini toggle is supposed to cut the output, but it doesn't cut it much.

The case is covered with some pretty excellent stickers. I love the Journey one.

The headstock shape is cool. It is like a BilT/Starcaster headstock except the high E tuner is easier to access in my opinion. The brass nut is pretty cool. First neck I have used with one.

The grain is really lovely. It is what drew me to this particular one when I was looking through Reverb and eBay.

Re: 1979 Ibanez Roadster
That's fantastic. Those are great guitars, worth every penny. I love my beat up roadstar ii. Those necks are superb, and while people have finally started catching on, they're still a great deal.
This is an excellent rectangle

Re: 1979 Ibanez Roadster
The neck feels a bit wider than my other necks. I kind of like it. Makes me think of an accoustic neck a little. It has a wonderful neck for sure and I like the pickups a lot.
