Todd - now I can understand why you were willing to sell the Gibson.

That is a thing of beauty in every sense. The checking reminds me of the old ES330 I had for a while (the faded cherry burst one) ... that was a '65 so around the same time line.

I've long lusted after a hollow body with mini-hums like a Riviera or Sorrento - but even so I'm far happier seeing that you've managed to find one and that this has gone to a deserving home.

May it give you many years of happiness Mr B!

Very nice indeed, and not helping my Kalamazoo Epiphone GAS at all, at all.

Give in to it.

Interesting to hear that they used the same bodies as ES-125Ts. It's the first thing I thought when I saw the colour & grain of the back. Very close to the '59 I used to have.

I have to stop staring at this thing. Such a looker!!

If anyone is considering going out and buying one of these, I can't recommend it enough. It's very versatile and sounds great. The neck is suuuuper comfortable! The longer I own it the more I appreciate what it does. The mini-hums are very, very nice pickups. Throatier than your typical single coil, but not muddy or overly bassy in any way. I think my favorite position is the neck, but they're all pretty great.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

That stinger-heel is also quite the rarity to find on an Epiphone.

What a beautiful guitar.
In Europe, these 60’s epiphones are almost impossible to find, and it’s a shame !

The nut width (string to string) is bang-on 1 3/8, which matches both my Tele and JM.
so that's ~34.9mm? Where do you get all these tiny necked guitars!? Most guitars are a bit wide for me but that might be *too* narrow. I briefly played a 67 355 which had a nut just shy of 39 mm and that was strange, but nice.

I was actually mistaken when I wrote that. My JM and Tele are both wider than the Epi. It is a bit cramped, but not hard to play. I’ve just dropped the guitar off at the luthier I use to do a setup. One of the things I asked him to do was to cut me a new nut to maximize the string spacing as much as possible.

Sigh.

I though all my GAS had been conquered. :fp:

It so lovely, Todd. I look forward to hearing you use it in one of your wonderful recordings.

I may or may not be on a hollowbody quest.

Was literally just thinking about this thread and all of the sudden it's active again. :shifty:

What a lovely, lovely instrument.

I inherited a 1966 Sorento with the original hard case mine has a Sunburst finish. Am I able to post a picture of it on this forum? And what do you think my guitar would be worth. Mine looks to have the original pick guard with the Epiphone logo that is raised

Folks here are going to be able to give you a very accurate answer, however you can also look at Reverb.com and they will often have a graph showing what guitars under this category have sold for in Reverb's history:

https://reverb.com/p/epiphone-sorrento- ... -1960-1969

I looked there and there is quite a bit of fluctuation, one seems to have sold as low as $750. Don't be too alarmed by that, that particular guitar likely had some serious issues or a partial trade was worked out.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
