Not F'N around Vandalism Strat

Got this from Mr Con-Tiki
A late 80's MIJ V RI body/trem and jack. Really beat, I've had this since the early 90's, it's been my test bed for a ton of pickups. Lots of finish checking and dings and cracks and cred.
A late-80's/ early 90's Fernandes '62 RI neck. I searched for this because it's a match to the one you see in the Paramount show. Veneer rosewood is nearly black, frets are good, profile is fantastic. This neck is dead-flat, and the truss rod works as it should, but the 'plus-sign' nut is split nearly in half. You'll want to find a replacement. That said, I had this strung up for months, and it was a great player. I have a tendency to set everything up with no relief, so a normal set up will be even better. Includes original tuners and neck plate.
To the buyer, i can also offer a 70's pickguard that has been routed for an HB (leaving the original SC mounting holes, just like Kurt's)
He is sending me an old 59 bridge pickup to go with it, so I am on the hook for the rest. Here are his pictures.

Put together.

To be honest, I am probably going to aim for that look. I have done the full stickered version, but I kinda don't like the sticker. It feels anti-cop and that isn't me. I think doing most everything aside from the sticker will be pretty cool. Besides, I made my own with a sticker already.

I found a sticker I might use on it online. The funny thing is they didn't give any credit to the source, but I think it might work well if the size is right. I will know better when it comes in.

I liked this one, but it is just the letters so it wouldn't look right.

I got the neck, body, and bucker in the mail today so I went to work putting pots, switch, and pickups in. The sticker I ordered is a bit longer than the Vandalism sticker, but I still really dig it. I put the sticker under the guard where I wanted it and traced the guard so I knew where to cut it so I could have the piece that goes on the guard. It applied pretty neatly. I had a different Fernandes neck and I wanted to swap heel truss rod nuts but it seems that they don't match. I ordered two different heel nuts. Hopefully one of them will work. :) In the mean time here is how it is looking. (Wiring inside isn't done and I decided to do a three way switch since mostly I will be using the humbucker. The neck pickup is a custom made one I had laying around and the middle is a Jaguar neck pickup. I didn't want to fuck around with polarity and stuff, so a three way seemed easiest.)

Wiring is done! (I know it doesn't look different aside from pickguard screws being in, but the wiring inside is all finished.)

I ordered a vintage Fender heel truss rod nut and it was too small and I got a 5mm import truss rod nut and it is also too small. Is repairing the stock one's cracks a dumb idea? I did some soldering on the cracks after kind of crimping the bent out pieces back in. Seems like that might work or is there something I am missing. It isn't pretty, but here are the cracks soldered.

Neck is on. We will see if the nut holds. It is probably an M6 Metric Nut. Not easy to find.....

It has the soldered up truss rod nut in it currently. Until I can find a m6 nut to replace it, it will have to do. LOL

Found a 6mm nut on eBay just now. Hopefully it will fit. I am sure the other would be fine, I just feel better about having one not cracked in there.

The new truss rod nut came and fit fine... but it was too long... So I took it out in the garage and used my metal cutting bit on my dremel to chop it down. Looks good now. Hopefully it does the job. :)

Good stuff.
I'm glad it found a happy home.
