For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

But the Halloween Reverb.com sale came up and I was looking at guitars (which I normally don't do since I can't play most), but this has to be one of the coolest looking hollow bodies I've ever seen:

I keep feeling drawn to the old Soviet guitars as they're SO weird.

It looks great and it can probably be set up to play well, but honestly, as someone who was born and spent formative years in the Jolana end of the world, it probably plays and feels similar to some '70s Teiscos. It does sound quite beautiful in the video though.

Here's a picture in case it sells on Reverb. It's like a 330/335 with a JM pickguard.

There are some cheaper listing of the same model...not in nearly as nice condition. I actually have a thing for soviet Era guitars. I have always loved the look of the Ural 650 bUT they play soon horribly.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

It looks amazing. If I thought it played as well as it looks I'd buy it straight away. It's unique.

I'm after one of those for ages. They're not much known or common in the states I suppose but in europe they pop up quite some time. I have a Jolana guitar, a yellow Galaxis model and it's a good player. I think they're pretty solid guitars. Epiphone produced guitars in the old Jolana facilities in the 90s and these were awesome. I used to own a Epiphone Flying V made in Czech Republic. Shame I sold it. Stupid me... :fp:

They're quite common here in EU, but I think the necks are baseball bats, electronics are terrible. I have a Musima like on the SY DVD cover, but only as a cool wall hanger...

But this (and other) Jolana does look damn fine.
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

Nothing is anything until it is written. After that, it's everything.

Yeah they're pretty intriguing- I keep an eye out for these, hope to pick one up at some point.

I tried one of these in a shop in London a while ago. Didn't spend too long with it, but I wasn't blown away by how it felt- surprisingly heavy.

That said, I'd recently been spoiled by a lovely Hofner Verithin I'd picked up for cheap which is super light, really resonant and plays like a dream (and superficially looks similar). It deffo didn't feel like junk, but I'd be wanting to get one for around £200...they do turn up on ebay all the time for around that price in varying condition

The Jolana I REALLY fancy is the Star X

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNbGM7sMheg

fruity shape, built in fuzz...tone like you've got a sock in each ear, love it!

Despite what i said above, I always feel defensive when I read stuff like this...big necks are cool! The electronics are no more terrible than a 60s japanese guitar, or a danelectro or kay or whatever.

Almost everything on a guitar like this can be subtly improved if you like the way it looks and have the inclination to use it 8)
