I think that there are big and untapped overseas markets where guitars are still somewhat fresh and novel. China and such, I don't know.
But clearly Gibson and Fender must have done some kind of market prediction when they decided to go global.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Phrenology may be bunk, but butter is actually regaining popularity over margarine recently. There's also been huge growth in consumer demand/consumption of raw milk in the last couple years. Now might be the perfect time to get into butter churns, and also herdshares. It all follows naturally: guitars --> cowboys --> cows --> butter ...
Aside from that, I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to feel sad that they're going out of business, or hate the company and celebrate it's demise.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Who the fuck eats margarine? That's like voting for Trump almost.

Not only that, but people are still making music by plucking taut strings. How primitive!

Yep, a watch is a beautiful, fascinating thing. I know you're probably sitting there smugly (and snugly) in your Crocs and your onesie wondering why the hell people bother with such frippery but a dwindling pool of dapper folk do.

I just dropped my last watch and broke the crystal!
Ordered a new one the same night. I love watches.
...and I love speculating about the failure of the Gibson corporation.

Chapman can sure sell some real ugly djent guits, so why can't Gibson?
I don't buy the argument that the market is low, if there's people thriving, then you must be doing something wrong.

The whole smartwatch fad has kind of brought them back, i'm sure many folks with a decent timepiece scoff at the idea but it's interesting to see them around a lot more.shadowplay wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 2:48 amYep, a watch is a beautiful, fascinating thing. Re: gibson going under.
I got a nice Movado Museum Classic for a gift and I have an unhealthy obsession with fashion in general but I never wear the damn thing. *shrug*
Too uncomfortable, I’ll whip it out for dressy occasions but wearing one everyday? God no.
As for Gibson, even if the current incarnation of the company goes under, the brand is too culturally valuable to completely disappear anytime soon.
