Room for one more

Post by burntumber » Sat Sep 30, 2017 1:25 pm

I have 2 guitar racks, 1 for 5, the other for 7.
Just 1 space is empty and I'd like to fill it.

Currently filled with:

Fender PS VI
Squier VI
Squier fretless P bass
MIM strat (play with a capo on 5th, standard tuning)
Kingston (Teisco) 4 pickup 26'' scale (D standard)
Peavey T-15, set up to play slide, open D, sometimes Eminor
Ibanez Talman tc620 DADGad
Fender Esquier GT (single HB, standard)
Custom built, 3 pickup, 7 way switching. (standard)
Yamaha acoustic
Almansa Spanish Lute

so I have a lot of bases covered, low end, alternate tunings, acoustic, folk instruments, 1pickup, 2, 3, and 4 pickups. Some offsets, some not.

My custom does all the strat positions, plus neck & bridge, all 3. and the Talman sounds like a hot tele, also the T15 bridge is quite tele-ish too.

I'm into post rock, jazz, live looping, drone, ambient, shoegaze blah blah blah...

as you can see, I favour cheapies and beaters, so you understand my budget.

open to your suggestions, thanks in advance

this is near me, price is right.

Not really a Alvin Lee fan, though looks kinda neat.

...hard re-sale if I end up not liking it.

P90’s? Talman has P100 type pickups, Peavey has Ferrites
Gold foils? oh damn!, any recommendations in the 500-600$ range?
Guitar with neck hb? I was gonna check out the new Mustang Bullet, maybe a cheaper Epi SG and pimp it out
Jazzmaster? if I can find a used Mascis, maybe yes
Hollow body? today I checked out a casino, sheraton, dot, none of them really grabbed me
Lap steel? the Peavey is very short 23'' scale, I have an extension nut, I play it like a lapsteel
Lipstick pu’s? my custom has 3 GFS black lipsticks, 7 way switching. pretty awesome.

Can we see pics of the kingston/teisco? You need an electric sitar, either a beater tele with this saddle set: https://m.thomann.de/de/sitarizer_tlsit_saddle_set.htm or this: https://m.thomann.de/gb/italia_guitars_ ... _white.htm

No ... you have it all backwards....

You need to purchase another guitar rack and then this will allow you to not have to whittle down the selection to but one guitar type :D
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

The Kingston is just like this, mine's black.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP-cXkZrvAQ

I'm almost embarrassed to type it, but I have the Digitech The Weapon pedal.
I bought it for the fake sitar sound. (and kept it for the phase with parallel OD)
Of course the Italia, Jerry Jones, Rouge, etc will sound more like the real thing.

In a shop in my city there's a Dean Boca 12string for $350
on craigslist, a Dano 12 shorthorn, early 2000'2... they want $600 :/

Also a Dillion Pheonix for $300

This weekend I'm going to check out the Mustang Bullet, in a big box store.
They'll probably have an SG or 83 to check out too.

Why not just wait for something to catch your eye?

What about something like this?

https://reverb.com/item/4061001-godin-e ... ewood-neck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I waited a long time to pick up a guitar with p90's and now I can't imagine being without one.

Empires are pretty rad.
I had a Radiator ages ago, been waiting to find another with a maple neck.

The Ibanez Talman's pickups are like P100s

...

a couple days ago a Schecter Hellcat showed up on CL.
it's out of the way to go fetch it, but only $300
3 Duncan designed mini humbuckers, Wilkinson strat tremolo.
...I wonder if you can split the pickups?

Oh wow. I didn't actually know Schecter made guitars like that. Looks sweet and three mini humbuckers sounds awesome.

Does the Peavy have the super ferrite pickups? Are they similar to a Teisco goldfoil?

Schecter made a handful of cool looking vintage inspired guitars like this, the Banshee, The Ultra, TSH-1

yep, 2 super ferrites.
the bridge has a tele sound, but the 2 together quack like a strat.

the only pickups I heard that were similar were in an ASAT
