NGD Rampage Continues!

Post by Deed_Poll » Sun Sep 10, 2017 2:31 pm

2005/06 (?) MIJ Gretsch 6129t Silver Jet!

Pickups are oxidised, other than that mint condition. Not even any micro scratches on the back and the protective plastic film is still on the RR and truss rod cover.

Came with all the hang tags & case candy and TKL hard case. Got it for £800 which I think is a cracking deal.

Needs some truss rod adjustment and some heavier strings, but plays very nicely and sounds phenomenal. The neck pickup is set pretty low but I quite like the balance, the bridge pickup absolutely screams and the Bigsby works great. Sounds particularly nice palm muting with lots of spring reverb, feels a bit like a Jag in that respect.

You're on a streak!!

This is a great one, nice sparkle finish, probably my fave on gretsches. Nice score, congrats!

Nice! I picked up a 2006 one of these (just with the trapeze rather than a bigsby) about a month ago. I always like how Terada made Gretsch guitars feel and play ... and I have a soft spot for sparkle finishes.

Happy NGD!

Everytime I see a beautiful Gretsch, it makes me sad that I wasn't able to get along with the one I had....

Lovely guitar dude.

Really nice. I had one just like it but never got on with the thin neck. I hope you enjoy the heck out of yours.

Sweet! And that's a great price.

I scored a similar deal (relative to North American prices) on an old MIJ G6138 (Bo Diddley sig) and it's one of the best guitars I own.

Makes me miss my gretsches. They're well made guitars. And yes, so much characteristically similar to jaguars in respect to brightness and attack. More so than any other guitar I've tried.
