Stratocaster refinish project - what colour?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

I bought Skippy because it looked like David's Strat.

Inca Silver is my fave on a Strat, followed by Sonic Blue. Fiesta Red is third.

Oh heck yeah! Albert Hammond Jr. all the way! You can't go wrong with white on white, though. (Still think a mellowed out Daphne, though.)

If it was me, faded sonic blue!

By the way, I would think the picture you posted is actually daphne blue.

And nearly a couple of months down the line the Strat is hanging from the ceiling, rubbed down and ready to spray....

It has been on the backburner as I have been playing a very nice Cyclone that I recently bought...

Anyway - I cannot bring myself to create yet another clone of every other Strat out there -- some colours are just too ubiquitous!
(red/black/white/sonic blue/LPB)

I've yet to find a green Strat that I like(although this is ok -

and I am no fan of cream/blonde etc

So I find myself coming back to a more yobbish colour such as:

Hmm...

Cover it with Garbage Pail Kids stickers. Match the headstock too.

To me the headstock/era of the guitar is important when choosing the colour.

I had a surf green japanese squier from the early nineties that was pretty sweet, similar modern headstock to yours, so I'd vote that.

Loads of the colour combos are good- white with aged plate etc, but only really work for me personally when on a clear 'early sixties looking' strat

If I ever face this dilemma, I would go for Tahitian Coral.

I could never own a black/white/sunburst guitar, especially on a Strat. Boring. 1000 people on the block would have one.

The orange looks like an interesting fresh option if you want to be different (if you had an amp to match?!), but honestly I am more keen on the blues & greens. At least you know with a Strat that every colour will look good, just slap on a black or white pickguard. Can never be sure with mint/off-white, some work some don't.

The more I look at it, the more I like the orange.

It's funny how some colours suit some guitars and not others (imho)

I don't understand people who have different guitars in the same colours!¬

The first one reminds me of a witch's hat (traffic cone) like VLC. But I don't think I could play a guitar that colour, just like I wouldn't wear orange clothes

For the most part, but for parts of big display collections it can be pretty cool. At a recent guitar show one guy had a bunch of different Fenders all in the same colour combo and they looked really good all together. (May have been white + tortoise, don't remember)

How about Shoreline Gold with a white or parchment guard. Looks distinctive, not too common, but not as loutish as something like orange!

Cheers!

I've refinished a sunburst stratbody to sonicblue with some relicing. Think it looks nice...
