1956 Fender Esquire
Hey folks! Thought you`d might enjoy some pics of this old fiddle. It`s an old `56 Esquire. And yes, it sounds just as good as it looks

To quote the Honorable James Comey, "Lordy, I HOPE there's tapes!" You know, of this thing being played. By you.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: 1956 Fender Esquire
Thanks guys! I feel really lucky to own this guitar. I did a trade involving another very special guitar, but I just felt at home with this Esquire the second I picked it up. The day I got it I brought it straight to the soundcheck for my gig that evening. I wasn`t sure if I was gonna use it or not, but I ended up playing the whole gig with it. Plugged straight into a Princeton Reverb it was just tone heaven
Here`s a little clip with it btw;

Man, people on this site have the best guitars.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Sounds great! I'd like to be able play like that some day. Was that clip recorded with your PR?Fenderguy wrote:Thanks guys! I feel really lucky to own this guitar. WOW! That sounds every bit as good as it looks! It says a lot that you just played a whole gig with it straight away. Thats the connection!

Yeah, I know. A connection like that is quite rare, at least for me.kosmonautmayhem wrote:WOW! That sounds every bit as good as it looks! It says a lot that you just played a whole gig with it straight away. Thats the connection!

I love how the bass strings sound in that clip - as well as the thickness of the treble. What a lovely sounding guitar (and some great playing as well).Fenderguy wrote: Here`s a little clip with it btw;

Of all the Fenders I think Telecasters/Esquires are the model that can sound so different depending on the year and pickups - if anyone needed justification in having many telecasters it should be this.
Do you still have the '68 maple board as well?
I've fallen in love with Telecasters all over again since I got the '66.
