Epi Les Paul SL
Sweetwater is showing a pre-order for $119. I thought about buying a Gibson M2 husk to mod up, but this seems too good to pass up for modder fodder. They are basically melody makers, but with the maple neck and poplar body like the M2s. consider me interested.

Re: Epi Les Paul SL
Bolt on or set neck on these?
If they are set neck, I have to wonder if they aren't maybe the same bodies. These are routed for single coils I guess, but maybe underneath they'll have bigger routes.
There's someone selling an M2 for $300, he'd probably come down. I think with some luck you could get an M2 for around $250 which is what I paid for mine new. It's a nice little guitar. Not sure if the Gibson name on the headstock there would add any value or really if the Epiphone isn't the same guitar body.
I think it's interesting that the Epiphone has what appears to me to be a better designed bridge/tailpiece. Of course I haven't seen it but the Gibson thing was a good idea poorly executed to the point of being almost unusable. I took mine off immediately, but I knew I would before I bought it.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Seems to be $99 now...
Great looking guitar as is and great modding platform I think.
My main concern would be the neck profile.

I'm weird about names. I'd be much more interested in this if it were called a Melody Maker. And why wouldn't they call it that? It's got all the the calling cards of a Melody Maker.

Re: Epi Les Paul SL
Might be better than an M2 in some ways. I noticed that the finish on my M2 is already wearing off, it's just a thin satin.
This is a guitar that's not getting a lot of use, either. I mean, I don't care, but for a modding platform you might want to just get the gloss Epiphone. God knows what kind of finish I'll have five years down the road, I've only had this thing since January!

Uglier than a Squier 51 .
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!
