So, who's getting a Backlund 400 ?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

So, who's getting a Backlund 400 ?

I have always admired John Backlund designs, He has tried to bring a new asthetic to the guitar.

Some have been more appealing than others, this one is the business tho'

It can be yours, from the Eastwood Custom Shop, for $US1350.

Needs matching bubble helmet and jetpack, or at the very least a colour coordinated jumpsuit and some silver eyeshadow.

Is the Eastwood Custom Shop really a custom shop? It's more like a limited run shop to me. It seems Custom has gone the way of 'Vintage'.

The hardware is weirdly prosaic, like it's out a build your own guitar catalogue circa 1979 (Rockinger maybe?)

I personally think our own Asymmetric owned the space agewith this remarkable and elegant design.

I quite like it! Looks like a fifties car, has a nice retro-futuristic thing going for it, but the headstock / truss cover doesn't quite work for me.

I'm sure it would be just as unappealing to me regardless of who's playing it.

I can't be certain, but I think the Eastwood Custom Shop is outsourced to an American luthier (Santa Cruz guitars?) but I'm not sure where I heard that.

sorry but this funny to me. The guitar itself is a completely radical, crazy, nontraditional design. yet of all things you're not into, its is the truss rod cover? like i don't think i have ever cared about how a truss rod cover on any guitar looks.

I'm a fussy bastard. Most modern Fenders are ruined for me by having the truss adjuster at the headstock end, truss covers are even worse.

I did say headstock and truss cover though. The rest of the guitar looks, as I said like a piece of futuristic 50s design, and the headstock looks like a shit 80s sorta shredding guitar.

This would be great to play on a retro Sci-Fi themed event.

That headstock is quite shred. The guitar would work with a futuristic jetsons-esque hesher aesthetic (space suit with the sleeves cut off, etc).

I think it's cool, but it's let down by being basically just another humuckered guitar with a stop tailpiece.

Also not keen on the inlays, they look like they should be on a cheap super strat or something.
a total idiot jackass

A set of "silver-foil" pickups (something like on the new Supros) would look good on it.
