...who's rocking a Flying V?
Hey guys!
Almost 20 years ago, one of my first great catches on the internet was an early 70s Ibanez Rocket Roll (Flying V) in natural color... for about $40.
It had an amazing sound and feel, and it looked really cool... but i never got around the 80s association and stuff. Just too "macho" somehow.
Of course there have been non-hairmetal dudes with V's, think Bob Mould (an Ibanez just like mine), Hendrix, Albert King, etc.
...but does anyone here have a cool V at home, and takes it out to play for real?
I've decided i want to give myself another chance at one, that i picked up for very cheap - should be here somewhere next week.
So let's see 'em, and hear about your exveeriences!

I like the flying v as a blues guitar a la Albert King or Doyle Bramhall II, korina with gold hardware. Looks great, sounds great.

I had one of the early Korina Vs from Epiphone made in Czech Republic. It was one of the greatest guitars I ever had. Sold it for sentimental reasons and regretted it ever since. Stupid me.

I had a warmoth v in general Lee orange. Floyd rose, hot humbuggies, total stunt guitar. Took it to a tech and he skipped town with it.
This is an excellent rectangle

The tech. I mean, I'd like to have that guitar back, obviously, but the tech I'd love to see and put him on the spot about it. His name was Matt something.

Oh! My bad, I thought you were saying you'd like to see the guitar "him" back. Have any pictures? Sounds like a masterful beast of kickassness.mackerelmint wrote:Shadoweclipse13 wrote:

No, I meant it as a love-stab. Sure, you're stabbing them in the balls, but it's from your heart. I would never make such a simple mistake!

Re: ...who's rocking a Flying V?
I have one. Gibson reissue 67 limited edition for Japan market in white. I really really love this guitar. It's so light! Sounds good too, since it have classic 57 hb and not super-hot pups. It's doesnt have the best clean sound, but It's great with mild to medium overdrive. It sound superb in my Vox ac15!
