Re: OGNTD...
You are not helping my SG gas (see earlier thread)! What is this trem and how do you like it?

Re: OGNTD...
It's a Deusenberg Les Trem ii, wanted a Bigsby but didn't want to put holes in my guitar and a vibramate costs nearly as much as a B5. Stumbled across these on YouTube... just fitted it last night so early days but it seems to do the same job as a Bigby sound and feel wise it's a bit stiffer than a Jag or Jazzmaster trem, loving it so far.mediocreplayer wrote:You are not helping my SG gas (see earlier thread)! Not as cool looking as a Bigsby though...

Whoa, I've never seen these before, looks killer! I think I'm gonna have to grab one for my SG now.

Re: SG + Les Trem ii
I had my eye on one for a while, but I am going more toward a stetsbar. I find myself needing a greater range in pitch. it'd be pretty cool to have for my les paul. that one is more of a rhythm machine.

Aye... I was after more of a shimmer rather than the ability to dive bomb the stetsbar is a bit more industrial looking too.

Re: SG + Les Trem ii
Only "problem" with the Stetsbar is that it has to be flat on the body, so if you have an SG with a full size pickguard you have to cut it. There are actually a lot of options out there for mounting a trem to your SG without permanently modifying it. Vibramate has adapter plates for various Bigsby models and there's the B3 + Towner option too, plus the Stetsbar and Les Trem.
I only wish Vibramate had actually put their Maestro plate into production, it's been "coming soon" for about 5 years.

Re: SG + Les Trem ii
Not into the whole vibramate product line. I usually keep my guitars. Wouldn't bother me at all to drill the holes for the Maestro if I wanted that vibrato. Same goes for adding a Bigsby. Would rather the holes than to have the whole thing raised on a platform, thin or not. I'd also rather take the hit on resale if I wanted to ever unload the guitar. People around here where I live aren't too nitpicky anyhow if what you're selling is a good guitar.

Gonna be honest, I don't know how anyone can argue against the Vibramate with a straight face. It covers up the studs from the stoptail, doesn't cost much, leaves the guitar completely intact if you decide you no longer want it, and having it "raised on a platform" actaully helps the break angle behind the bridge and has zero detrimental effect. If you don't care about unsightly stud posts and extra holes in your guitar, kudos, doesn't make the Vibramate any less of a great product.

No problems with vibramate. I specifically said I wouldn't use one. Don't care about holes or stud posts one bit. Like I said I usually keep my guitars and am not bothered by losing a tad amount of cash if I sold one. I'd rather have a vibrato screwed directly into the guitar than bolted onto a piece of metal.Grey wrote:Gonna be honest, I don't know how anyone can argue against the Vibramate with a straight face. YMMV

Fair enough, I guess I misinterpreted it.

Re: SG + Les Trem ii
Only problem with the vibramate is the price... it costs more than the Les Trem does and you still need to buy a Bigsby.
Bigsby looks better though
