Not a fan of bound necks in general, but these do work. I'd play them.

Re: Bound Strat Necks?
This thread has awoken serious strat lust...I haven't wanted or owned a strat since the 90's...
The question is, do I build a parts strat? Do the coronado/jazzy neck on a strat body idea? Find all vintage parts, or actually just find some parts on line?
The thin skin strats are also tempting at wildwood...not bound, though.

I'm in the process of building a parts strat, so I'll update when I have some progress there. Gonna wind my own pickups to vintage specs, we'll see how that goes.

Alright, I ordered a bound neck. See what you guys make me do?! I'll definitely post updates of those pickups once I get them together.

Re: Bound Strat Necks?
Nothing fancy, just an Allparts '65 bound neck.
For $140, I can't really argue any other bound neck seemed to be stupidly expensive. Love my other Allparts neck so I have good hopes.

Looks great! I didn't realize Allparts made D+B necks! You should pop out those plastic dots and get some abalone or mother of pearl.

Yeah as far as I know thats the only one they make and you can get them cheap from some of those Allparts dealers who offer it way less than Allparts does. It's on its way to MJT so we'll see what they can do with it.

Re: Bound Strat Necks?
Finally got around to pretty much completing this one - just need to add a string tree and some strap buttons. Can confidently say I am a strat man after running from it for years. As much as I miss my old one, this one is better in every way.
Pickups sound great. I'd never do a relic finish again I don't think. Always been on the fence about them and because I got rid of a nice beat up vintage jag and bought this after, it seemed fitting to give one a try. It's mostly the back of the neck I'm not 100% pleased about looks wise. Playability is fantastic though. I want another one of these necks. If you got one, hit me up,
Looks and feels great, would not recommend the MJT aged plastic parts that come with the kit - they looked really bad. I bought new pick up covers, knobs and scraped some yellow paint off the switch tip and trem arm tip. The rest of it was great though.
Dream guitar right here. Already got me thinking of downsizing more of the collection.
That bound neck looks so good on it IMO. Great job nudging me on that guys.
