Cream/parchment would be my first choice. Mint on green looks ok, but to me it's jut a bit too much like looking at the world wth green sunglasses on - everything is green.

I have found a dark cream colour called "ivory" in 3-ply from an eBay which would be my choice. Like Les Paul Cream but less pink, more yellow, not quite green.
Then there's cream pearloid!

Re: Surf Green Jazzmaster with what pickguard?
I saw a guy wearing a spearmint shirt and a paisley tie that looked like intestines (and corn coloured 8 wale pleated cords) and I thought of this thread as I clubbed him on the head and waited for the style police to take him away. It's part of my job and yet I find mixing colour opposites and clashes advanced witchcraft that I generally stay well clear of, some people have an innate feel for this but I'm not one of these people and those who have the feel are rarer than the Yeti and even simple shit like 'spezzato' is really hard to get right, let alone mastering comedy clashing.mackerelmint wrote:quoted for truthcmatthes wrote:Never Tort on blues or greens.

I'd go even further; tort on original olympic white and sunburst if it was born with it, gold guards only on original guitars and white on everything else (meaning reissues). I can only imagine your shirt and trouser/skirt combinations if you think surf and meatball look good together, though I seem to remember genuinely horrifying violet and tort combinations cropping up on here in tribute to some rawker. Having said that I've seen some metallic guitars with anodised black that look fine but other than that the classixxx win. It's a bit like reproduction/knock off furniture, in 99 cases out of a hundred it looks wrong to the power ten and leaves folk who've never seen the real thing wondering what the fuss is all about.

For what it's worth, here's my '65 with original celluloid pickguard. I think the clash between blue green / yellow green is really cool... though this one is foam green, not surf:

I think there needs to be a blue/green with tort thread if one doesn't already exist (too lazy to check)

Re: Surf Green Jazzmaster with what pickguard?
Hey guys, just posted a full post about this without seeing this one first. I have the same guitar and want to swap for a Tortoise. Can anyone provide a link to where they got their pickguard? I bought one from AllParts but it didn't fit. Will a real Fender one fit?
Thx!
