Gold Sparkle Mustang Build
So anyone who's been looking through the OSG classifieds lately probably noticed an incredible gold sparkle Warmoth body hanging around... Well, I love gold guitar gear, and after seeing some little odds and bits I had piled up, decided I could build a Mustang Partscaster out of the Warmoth body for probably under $700.00. This will probably be a long build thread because I'll be looking for good deals and some design advice, but here's the start:
Warmoth Gold Sparkle Body
1971 Mustang Neck - refretted with medium jumbos. Not sure how much I'll like this neck, but it was relatively cheap and had been refretted already. There's another neck here in the classifieds that I really want, but probably needs a refret as well. If this neck profile is too thin for me I'll either custom order a neck or try another one.
Lace Gold Sensors - currently in my 1978 Antigua Fender Stratocaster. Those are being replaced with Lollars for a more traditional Strat sound, but I do think they will sound really cool in the Mustang. Pictures to come once they're removed from my Strat.
I'll either go with a new Decoboom creation, white, or perhaps perloid guard. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Probably going to use white switches as well.
This probably sums it all up for now, but this project should come out super cool.

Nice! I was really tempted by that body as well, but have too many projects in the works as it is... LOL Should be beautiful when it is done!

Fantastic! I thought long and hard about going for that body. Love it.
Anodised black guard would be amazing on it, but I hear they're difficult to source these days...

I'd vote decoboom for sure. gold sparkle and a vintage type pattern, maybe with gold and blue, could be awesome!

Yeah, that would be pretty fantastic- one of their (his?) deco designs would be very fitting too.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:Decoboom from their Navajo collection in black on this Mustang would be The. Re: Gold Sparkle Mustang Build
Wow this has taken forever... But I've finally (mostly) wrapped it up! This thing is super resonant and absolutely stunning. The 70's neck is super thick but the frets and nut are mediocre. It'll definitely be getting a new nut soon, and maybe frets later. It's light, noiseless (took the Lace sensors that came in my 70's strat), and best of all, looks great . I might also switch out the Warmoth mustang bridge for a mastery. Overall, this is a much better guitar than my 60's one that I used to have. I'm pleased!

Hell yeah! I approve.
For what is worth, i prefer the stock bridge to the Warmoth bridge.
