so far, she's living up to the yandere stereotype. looks cute and pretty but can fucking kill at a moment's notice.

ok. given what's going to be on my workbench in the next few weeks, i figured i should revive this.

so my friend brought one of those guitars from the alan george facebook group. i had a look what he had and found he has a few telemaster style guitars. so i pulled the trigger on one. i had seen the quality on some of the guitars my friend got and figured "at the very least, it will be a fun project.

Image

this is the one i ordered. it arrived last night at 8pm so i never had a chance to go over it like i would normally. until this morning because i'm a sleep deprived weirdo.

i think we have a new record for me breaking a string. 2 mins out the box. i'm very hard on strings
Image

the build quality. paint is good. frets are decent but need some breaking in. bridge is good. wiring is ok. pickups are quite low output, even by my standards. it needed a neck shim but i had some tube tickets left over. the nut is pretty badly cut and the tuners are honestly pretty bad. the guitar cost me £85 shipped to my door.

the plan is to turn it into a wee tone machine for as little as possible.

i have a set of tuners laying around in my spares draw.
i have a pickup i'm going to stick in the bridge but i'm going to need to get a humbucker to single coil pickup ring first.
i'm going to upgrade the pots from 250k to 500k.
new nut.
sand down the hella glossy neck.

also keep an eye on this thread since i got a fair amount of projects on the way.

Just send glossy necks to me ;) Oh wait it has a Tele headstock - NM :D

...Actually.

Do you know where the saddles came from? They look *identical* to the G&L F100 saddles I needed and would have over-paid grandly for, before I found someone who sold me a set at a reasonable price. I'd have bought it ONLY for the saddles:

so small update. i decided i wanted a phase switch on the bridge pickup. i also stuck a set of witch hats on there. i also got a tusq nut that's all ready to go in. outside a few small jobs, it's good to have a project guitar that's been fairly quick. at this point i'm just waiting on the pickup ring and maybe having to do a bit of routing.
