Jay Turser MG-2 turned Musicmaster
Hey there, wanted to share the result of this one with you guys.
Decided to pull the trigger on one of these Jay Turser MG-2, mustang-like guitars with matching headstock and jazzmaster style tremolo. Bought it with the intention of turning it into a musicmaster of sorts, just neck pickup with vol and tone knobs. Got some cream pearloid and ended up using a neck strat pickup I had laying around instead of the one of the stock that came.
The tuners are kind of terrible to turn, but I'm surprised to see it stays in tune quite well. The bridge is some chinese one I got off ebay, because I hated the one they used.
Wanted to put a lace sensor there... anybody have suggestions on what model?

I decided to order one and mod it as well, it's currently on the way but I wanted to have all the parts I had planned to use as well before going through the rigorous process of setting it up and replacing the pickups and pots etc.
Which brings me to my delimma where you may be able to help...
I've had one of these models before and I remember the bridge not being able to extend on certain strings to notate properly. What bridge fits it properly? Tune o matic, mustang, jaguar?

Also, is that a mustang pickguard or did you cut your own? That's a brilliant look and nice fit as well.

Mild thread resurrection! I've been wanting to pick up something vaguely mustang-shaped to do something like this.
Was the bridge a drop-in?
And how's the neck on these? Are they 24" scale? Were the frets okay?

Hey man, yeah the bridge was a drop in. I didn't measure the scale myself, but at the time, all the websites I checked that sold these advirtised them as 24".
I liked the neck, not skinny and not beefy... I don't know much about frets, to me there was nothing in it that bothered me, no sharp fret ends that I noticed either. Sadly I don't have this guitar anymore to give you more details.

My bandmate has one of those. They are cool guitars for sure but they're also heavy. Heavier than my VM Jag at least
Also, did the pickup covers fit the strat pickups??
