Looks great so far. As far as shaving off that end piece, did you cut through it with a coping or some other type of saw, use a rasp, use a router or some other method? Would be curious to know so I don’t ruin my neck. Your projects always turn out great so would like to know how you weee able to cut down that heel.
I mounted the neck template I have to the back of the neck, then used a router bit with a ball bearing guide to trace the shape of the template. I routed it to the depth I wanted.
I cleaned it up with a file and sandpaper.
It's probaby best to use a routing table but I did it the risky way by top routing it, which I could have easily screwed the whole thing up.

Thanks! May give trimming the neck a try. Look forward to seeing more picks of your latest project.

This might be the ugliest thing I have ever made, or the most beautiful?

Sonic Youth vibes. Might rout it for 3 pickups.

I made this body 20 years ago from Tasmanian Celery Top pine.
It has sat on the shelf until now.
I have since stained and finished it.

Cross, you are knocking out of the damn park lately!!! Your last 3 are amazing. I LOVE that Olympic White Mustang with the blue guard. Just classic as hell!! And this:

...one of THE coolest body shapes I've ever seen!! Reminds me of some of the classy and curvy lines of Toots' unique projects, and that's a very good thing in my eyes.

Thanks. That means a lot. It's encouraging because I really only want to build my own designs from now own.
This one seems to be a hit.
Can you show me one of Toots' designs?

You're welcome man! I mean it. You've certainly got the skills to keep going. Having original designs are tough, but there are a few people, around here especially, who've really got it going on. I'm definitely intrigued to see more of your original stuff!

Here's my favorite of Toot's designs, the Wisent:

The only thing that stands out as really similar is the curve of the forearm contour, but that's not a big deal at all to me. A comfort contour, seeing as how we humans are all roughly the same shape, should be similar in theory.

I love Uptone guitar designs.
I like his use of unique materials and custom hardware.

This bass is quite striking. Very pleasing to look at. Definitely stay with your own designs if they're all this good.

Great looking bass, I don't think I've ever seen a J-bass pickup with a metal pickup cover. That's what's under there right?
The little details on the knobs too; very classy.

In the 1960s, Jazz Basses came with chrome covers that arched over the strings and pickups, as on this Custom Shop reproduction of a 1960 Jazz Bass. They look awesome, but most players took them off with a screwdriver to have better access to the strings, and Fender eventually took the hint and removed them from the design.

The common theme across all your projects is that you have great design sense. I love that bass!

Dude, I love it! The colour is awesome as well. I'd call it "prosthetic beige" ;)

Seriously though, really beautiful work :)
