Thanks guys,
the timber is nice and rare enough that it will be painted in some kind of natural finish. I agree a red burst would look great.
I was thinking more redish brown sunburst.

:-* Nice alright, what is it?
Great project- I love that Kay body shape, it's one of my favourite electric guitar shapes ever.

I agree with the natural finish idea. I think if you were really looking to do a burst, I'd say a tobacco burst 8)

It's Tasmanian King Billy pine.
Smells like honey. It's becoming increasingly more rare.
It's made from a very old table, rescued from a very old pub that closed down.

I ended up going with Transparent witch hat knobs. They looked okay but then I glued the chrome tone and volume bit on it and it looks awesome.

When the burst jumped out in that third pic, I went “ooooh.”

Love that body shape - finish came out really nice too. Is that a slight burst? You'll have to let us know how those GFS gold foils sound too!

Thanks!

I strung it up and plugged it in for a bit last night.
Sounds pretty good. Mellow, chimey. The ferrite magnets are very strong.

It does have a slight burst around the edge. More like a sunburn.
I might put some more clear on it. Some of the sanding scratches are showing through.
But I was going for a rough n ready type finish.

Really nice. Just the right type/ amount of burst for this guitar IMO.
