I hope so.
It was fun carving the belly contour on the front of the body for a change.
I didn't even notice that! It's subtle, or maybe just the lighting. That's awesome!!
I'll take some better pics to show the cuts a bit more. It still needs a bit more work though.

Beveling the pickguard pieces where they meet is a good idea. It defines each piece and adds interesting detail to the whole thing. Without that, they would just make one big black mass. Looking good.

I've wondered what this might look like before.

The Marauder is a crazy looking guitar and you'd be forgiven for thinking there's a little bit too much chrome on show.
What you've done is really clever as you've toned it down and made the curved joins much more prominent. Looks great!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Thanks,
The black plates were mostly an economic decision but I agree it does tone down the chrome a lot.
Plus I'm thinking of finishing the body either black or charcoal frost metallic.

I quite like how Burns guitars have segmented pickguards.

I think that would look great. Also satin black would go nicely with it.

Love that Marauder! And I agree - the black pickguards with the bevels really do look great. Those on a black painted body will look killer. What are you thinking for pickups?

What do you recommend? It's cut for Jaguar. I want something pretty special. Either Curtis Novak's, AVRI, mojo or seymour duncans.

Would Tri-Sonic/Brian May Red Special type single coils fit in there? That would be cool ;D

They would definitely suit it plus they sound amazing.

I'll have to find some measurements.

I just measured my Kent Armstrong Tri-Sonics (assuming they're the same as originals)- they're 76.6 mm long x 24.2 wide x 11.0 deep, mount hole spacing is 84mm.
I like where you're going with this, you may have chosen to do the pickguard the way you did for economic reasons, but I like it a whole lot better than the original Marauder, especially with those bevelled separations between the segments.
Nice one! 8)

I thought, you're using a Burns style for the plates butted up to the guard, and the fact that there's less chrome (which I like by the way), would make it look really cool to have some chrome covered pickups as well, so all the chrome is in a linear path from butt to neck pocket :w00t:
