Haha, thanks man I've been having a friend build some of the bodies, but I DO still intend on making a few bodies of my own, it just won't be this year.PluckPhuckNStrum wrote:@Shadoweclipse13
The templates and bodies look excellent! Very interested in checking out your work. You're an animal.

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
Updates! I finally bought a router!!! This summer is gonna have some crazy wood-slinging
I've been wanting a baritone for a long time, but this is one I didn't have any ideas for. No body shape, no color scheme. Nothing. I was chatting with Dan (Deed_Poll) and he suggested the idea of using his NRFB design from early in his amazing portfolio, which I REALLY liked:
Any ideas for the color scheme were eluding me, until one night at work, when I was Googling some pictures (for phone wallpaper) based on my deep love of 70's Sci-Fi. That's it! 70's Sci-Fi theme. A layout and color scheme that would make one reminisce of Logan's Run and control panels like Space: 1999. This is what I came up with:
Just this morning I was doing some research on rocker switches and found out something interesting (that some of you guys could use for other guitars too!). I don't know if either the NKK TN-type or TY-type would fit in the switch holes for the Marauder (or Strider's Scout model). Just wanted everyone to be aware that different colors are a possibility!! Anywho, I ordered some NKK switches and found out that they make two different sizes (TN and TY) which you can order different colored switch actuators too! I ordered 2 DPDT switches (for phase and series-parallel switching) and 2 SPDT switches (pickups on and off) that will look like this:
I think the first guitar/music project I'm gonna tackle with the router is a console-type slide guitar for myself. Pretty simple: poplar body (likely) routed for a classic Tele bridge (single coil) and a Roadhouse KT-100 just next to that. I haven't decided on any color scheme or scale yet though.

I started playing with the design, and thought it would look KILLER with a control layout like an SG Jr. where the pots and jack follow the lower curve of the body, to which he responded with this:Deed_Poll wrote:
Perfect. After talking with Ken (Mr. Roadhouse Pickups himself), we decided on a KT-100 for the neck pickup, and a P-80 for the bridge. I'm going to be ordering them very soon (have some major overtime coming up at work).

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
It wasn't one of my big planned pieces of furniture, but the idea hit me like two weeks ago, to make an amp stand that raises my amps off the ground a bit, and where my pedalboard can be stored underneath as well. Today was the first nice weather day we've had in weeks (at least the first one that was nice that I didn't have to work), and among other things I'm building, I got the stand built! Still need to sand and stain it, but this thing is SOLID. Looks nice, and I have a bit more floor space now.
Going to a local Greek Fest with a buddy and his daughter tonight, so hopefully, I'll still have time to frame in the pedalboard too

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
Man, what a good weekend. Outside in the fresh air, woodworking all day. Still didn't get to the pedalboard, but considering what I actually got done, I'm not all that bummed about it. It's also not guitar related, but it's big enough that I thought it counted as a project worthy of a post
I'm building a coffee table, gaming table hybrid. Basically, it'll have a smooth top for daily use, and boards that pop up in the center, for access to a 2.5" deep
"vault". My plan is to have the base of the "vault" lined with a casino-grade felt, assuming I can find something like that. I'm also gonna put LEGO baseplates glued to the bottom of the top plates, because I'm an adult and everyone should have access to 30" X 60" of LEGO baseplates if they want to I've got a couple other neat features I am planning to incorporate as well, but I won't get too into details just yet. It'll be finished in my usual walnut-like finish on oak, and have 3/4" steel pipe legs.
This is what inspired a few things I am planning on doing:
https://youtu.be/_PwSzZU_FIc
5/4 Pine base. It will have 3 layers of oak boards: the inner boards (1X3's, and innermost as seen here) will be visible when it's finished. The middle boards (1X4's, and are the 4 separate outermost boards here): the gaps that are there are for four chunks of board that will act as supports for an extension wing. There's an outer layer (1X6's) that aren't shown yet because I've still got some work to do before I get to that point.
This is to show scale and one of the things that inspired me from the Rathskellers' table: table saw ripped groove in the top edge of the 1X3's to hold cards, for games where you have cards that stay with you the whole game (like an identity card for something like Life or Pandemic). The top cover boards, will be resting on the 1X3's here, when finished.

OMG! OMG! That sci-fi scheme is the coolest idea! That's gonna look like Darth Vader's chest thing, or some control panel on a spaceship. Dude!
This is an excellent rectangle

Thanks Megan! That's exactly how I felt when the idea hit me. I couldn't draw it out fast enough I actually lost 3 hours of sleep, staying up after work to draw it out in Illustrator. I meant to make it more brown, but either brown or gold (or a goldish brown!) would be very 70'smackerelmint wrote:OMG! OMG! That sci-fi scheme is the coolest idea! I really like this design! The headstock, the controls following the body outline, etc.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:I just did an updated Illustrator drawing with 4 switches and the colors as close as I could get them.
Red, yellow, gray, blue...
Or red, yellow, white, gray.
I honestly like both. I may not actually decide which I want until I have the painted body and pickguard in front of me. Thoughts? Megan...?

Thanks! I can only take partial credit. The body shape and control layout on the body is all Deed_Poll. I'm really damn excited for this project though. Probably the one I'm looking forward to the most
