So great to see this all assembled! I agree that strap is a perfect match for the tort... But also, I love that the knobs are the same ivory colour as the tort backing! It looks so coordinated and professional. Beautifully done

Hope I'm not overstepping here, but I think Poptarts should go on a diet.

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
What's weird is that none of the white/off-white/cream parts match, but I don't even care. I didn't notice that the knobs do kinda match the lower ply's of the guard. The upper switches kinda match the pickup cover under the chrome cover.
She's ok. I try to play with her all the time, and she's just a very sedentary cat. She has a few toys she really loves, but she's not a big play-er. I've known her for over 10 years (even before I got her) and she never was. She also doesn't eat excessively, but I give her wet food 4 times a week for that exact reason. Next time I take her to the vet I want them to check for anything else possibly going on, but I honestly think that she's just really chill. She likes to sleep as much as I do.

Ask them about diabetes. I lost a cat to that, and my vet said an awful lot of domestic cats develop it (and it can turn ugly) without being diagnosed in time.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 6:53 pmNext time I take her to the vet I want them to check for anything else possibly going on

She really is. You'd think she'd be a big ham and love the camera knowing she's cute, but she hates the camera.
I have to kind of trick her to look at my phone otherwise she gives me the "I'll murder you in your sleep" look. Luckily for me, she's a cuddler and not a murderer.

Haha! Yeah cats are like that for sure. You have to train the camera on them when they're not looking and wait for them to turn around otherwise they are wise to it.
My cat's eyes do the spooky headlamp thing. Always ruins a nice shot!

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
It would be cool if they made those little on/off Jaguar type switches in a slight off/aged white. Black and pure white are all I ever see, but when you stick one of those bright white ones on a guitar where everything else is kinda aged/yellowed, it stands out a bit.
Anyone know if those even exist? Or is there a way to safely, easily yellow them up? I'm not gonna drop the entire switch housing into some tea, so...
PS - On a related note, it seems a person could have a nice little side business doing nothing but making MATCHING pickup/tremolo tip/knobs/switch tips for these offsets. I suppose it's "just how it is" or part of their charm, but I don't think I've ever seen a Jazzmaster where all those things looked like they came from the same batch, or went together.
A Jazzmaster will often have an amber/orange selector tip, and then the rest of the plastic will all be different shades/tones of white/cream/yellow. Drives the little OCD gremlin living inside me crazy.
You'd think Fender themselves would sell a kit for Jazzmasters (they do for Strats, I know) where all these bits were unified. Pristine white, slightly aged/off white and a darker, pissed-on yellow-y cream for the relic/dragged-behind-a-train folks...just those three shades should satisfy most.

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
I completely agree. At least if someone (Switchcraft as most slider switches sold for guitars are Switchcraft) made them in cream or off-white (like Olympic White). You can take sliders apart very easily, BUT, I'm not a fan of that since you have to bend metal tabs to do it. Then you'd have to bend them back, thus weakening the metal quite a bit.

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
It's very easy to darken white switches, no need to take them apart.
- You roughen them slightly with fine sandpaper.
- (optional) You fill a bottle cap with water, dip in a cheap feltpen (ideally brown, or black), and apply that dark water with a couple of sheets of toilet rolled in a ball. Focus on the grippy part. It's not meant to darken, do it lightly, it's only to add some dirt; if you just want the color and not the ageing, skip this step.
- Get some yellowed clear nail polish; if you can't find it, press the tip of a yellow felt pen into regular clear nail polish (one drop of ink should do for aged white). For a creamier switch tip, I'd use a brown pen. A thin layer or two will do the trick. Cheap NP comes with brushes that are no good, in that case I strongly suggest to use a very thin/small painbrush.
Unlike knobs or even toggle tips, slide switches tips are quite small and your fingers don't rub on them as much.

I'd love it if someone would make matching sets of cast cream pearloid tips, covers and knobs...

Those cupcake knobs and that pickguard look amazing together. What kind of tort is that? Also, I've aged white pickup covers and other plastic parts by leaving them in a cup of coffee for a couple of minutes.

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
Thanks man! I haven't decided if I'll try to stain the switches and pickup cover yet, but if I leave the wood as is and don't paint, I'll hit it with clear coat in the summer, so I've got a little time to decide.
