Re: Finding a XII bridge
I think that's the way I'm gonna go with it...just get a Strat XII....saves the hassle of turning the world upside down to find one.
afterall, the complete XII bridge that was on for sale on ebay a few months ago went for $300 I think....

Re: Finding a XII bridge
So zhivago, would you be willing to send the bridge off to a machinist or fabricator when you get your Strat XII? What with this bridge being very valuable, it just makes sense that you could make some money selling copies of a XII bridge. You might even make money, depending on how much the machinist would cost, etc...
We just need to find somebody who can fabricate this...

Re: Finding a XII bridge
if I knew someone who could do it, I would...unfortunately I don't know of any machinists here in London....
in all fairness I wonder if the cost f making another bridge (or even 5-10 of them) would be cost effective....and who would actualy buy them...apart from you and me!!
I keep reading about people wanting to machine bits but noone ever actualy does it....which makes me think it's not as simple as people make it out to be
I remember people wanting Bass VI pup selector plates which are way simpler to make, and I'm not sure if that happened either...

Re: Finding a XII bridge
It shouldn't be that hard to make. At least the bridge plate. I don't know about the individual saddles, though.
All you would need is a band saw, a press break and a drill press, and you could make your own XII bridges. the plates atleast.
I think what I'm going to do is make a bridge plate that will accept the saddles off of the Gotoh 12-string bridge. It's not going to be pretty, but it'll work. There's a bonus in that the fact that we already have tracings of the XII bridge plate.
I think it would be worth looking into finding someone to make XII bridges. Somebody could easily sell 5 on this board alone, and that doesn't even consider the eBay factor - I'm betting a repro XII bridge could bring in $300.

Re: Finding a XII bridge
I just got some photos from a current ebay auction that are interesting - details of a Telecaster (!!) XII bridge. Apparently the saddles and block (back ferrule plate too) are the same, just the bridge plate is different. Freaky, eh?

No, but it's well known that they will - so long as it's attached to a Custom Shop guitar. They will not sell parts separately.Mr M wrote: has anyone talked to the Fender Custom Shop about having a XII bridge made ?

Re: Finding a XII bridge
I had someone talk to fender Japan; the place where I would assume they would have some leftover bridges from the Venus XII.Mr M wrote: has anyone talked to the Fender Custom Shop about having a XII bridge made ?
They are out of XII bridges, and don't plan on making more.

Re: Finding a XII bridge
I found a Squier Venus XII at a local shop for $500. I don't have the money or really want one myself, but if any of you are interested in it, I could help.

If you could just steal the bridge off it for me, that would be a great help!stereordinary wrote: I found a Squier Venus XII at a local shop for $500. I don't have the money or really want one myself, but if any of you are interested in it, I could help.

It all looks good. I'm just waiting to hear back from a mob with a price for plasma cutting the plates. I've been working away from home a bit lately so it looks like it might be another week or two before I'll have the finished product. I'll post pics as soon as its done.

Well, hot damn. I was thinking that you would be finishing up the prototype sometime early next year. Two weeks, that's great.Val66c wrote: It all looks good. Re: Finding a XII bridge
I was just surfing around, and I "stumbled" upon this site...
http://www.callahamguitars.com/machshop.htm
Maybe someone could ask them about making a couple of Fender XII bridges?
