3-pickup Longscale Jaguar
Posting this here, since the FDP forum seems to be full of crickets chirping these days.
Just an update and a question. I've routed the controls and decided on the wiring scheme: it will be like a stock Strat (250k pots) on the normal channel (but with just one tone pot) and a Jaguar circuit (1 meg pots) on the rhythm circuit.
If anyone can tell me what thickness brass I should get to make sheilding for under the control plates, that would be swell. Amazon sells metals stock sheets now: http://tinyurl.com/y8boc8

Thanks,

I *really* don't think the thickness is an issue, as copper shielding tape is literally paper thin and works fine...so, I'd like to think that $12 sheet they sell would be fine. Also, GREAT JOB ON THAT BODY!!!

Oh yeah, I remember this project from the FDP thread. Glad to see it over here, I was wondering how it was comin'. And the answer to that is: very well!

"Is that trent reznor in your avatar?"
Nope, me.
And I just ordered the brass sheet sample pack - four sheets of 4" x 4" which should be more than enough. And if this cold rainy weather ever clears out, I'll start spraying.

yep... that's what i've done in the past. i still ended up coughing for days though and it took ages to clean all the paint dust from every surface!Aug wrote:fuck that! lay down plastic drop covers in a bathroom, open a window, put a fan in the window, crank the heat and start shooting!jetset wrote: "Is that trent reznor in your avatar?"

yeah, well... you know what it's like... more enthusiasm and impatience than common sense makes many of us dive in and do somethings without any forethought for the consequences!Aug wrote: plastic drop cloths are cheap enough, and so are face masks...
the finished paint job did end up looking rather fab though!

Yeah, it's lookin GREAT! Very nice job...
Can't wait to see pics of the finish! What color?
By the way, ACE Hardware sells brass sheets too, pretty cheap. They usually have a display bin full of round metal stock and flat, aluminum and brass. For my JM, I bought the AVRI control cavity tub from Angela... but I'm going with my local ACE for the brass under the pickups and rhythm circuit.Amazon sells metals stock sheets now: http://tinyurl.com/y8boc8
