I'm setting it up for a 24" scale. I prefer Lake Placid Blue. I was thinking metallic red would look good but a nice honey or tobacco burst would too.

I cut out the F hole last evening and did the back side round over.

I like the pickguard version if I were to pick, but I think this will turn out awesome either way. :)

I decided to go with the standard Mustang set up on this one as a member may be interested in this body. I have spanish cedar blank waiting to be cut out when a new band saw blade arrives that will get some p90s.

I'm waiting for some binding tape from StewMac so I can get the binding glued on and the neck pocket routed.

First one without the gold and put the toggle in the lower horn!

Edit, just noticed there was a 2nd page lol. I like it though, just ditch the gold trem and it will be hot.

i like the looks of the one with the pickguard, but i like the implied sonics of the p-90s. i own a vintage mustang but the pickups, while charming, are not ideal for most uses, to be honest. i don't use the guitar. it's hard to get a raunchy p-90 type tone out of them, that's for sure. with a powerful clean boost they can sound pretty killer, but kinda muted and polite. this is totally my amateur opinion, of course. but, i will say, one idea is vintage vibe p-90s in the strat pickup form factor. those things sound really, really great. every since i heard those pickups i've been daydreaming about putting together a guitar with them in it.

Thanks, I'm out of time prepping for a road trip so this will have to wait until late Oct. to get done. I can only take a couple projects with me due to room so I will take my Voyager and a 24" custom with Jag pickups-they are closest to being completed so they will make the trip and get done finally.

This one has been hanging out in the shop for a couple years. I screwed up the binding so now it's just got a generous roundover. I just shot a quick tobacco burst and some clear but it needs more for sure. It will get an aged white pickguard with Rose pickups Mariposa single coils with Mustang 5.0 wiring. The body & top is alder and weighs about as much as the neck! Should be a fun little guitar.

I like the round over and the burst. Would it be weird to throw some of that tobacco up on the headstock? This should be a super fun one!

I braved the multitude of mosquitoes in the woods & shop to get a little more done on this project. It looked great last fall but the clear nitro shrank over the past 6 months so I need to order more as well as a neck plate & trem arm. The bridge still needs mounted and a little bit of wiring. The pickups are Rose "American Beauty" so it should sound awesome. The chambered alder body weighs less than the neck with tuners. The knobs are black knurled flat top tele knobs but I may go with some Jag knobs or some cool large dia. chrome knobs I have in the drawer. The pick guard is more aged than it appears under the flash.

After messing with the wiring a bunch I finally got this one DONE, other than setting the intonation with the Wilkenson locking roller bridge. I tried a brass nut on this one, I think I like it. This puppy really rings and sounds great with some reverb. I love the Rose pickups too, makes me really want to get a Strat going for another set of pickups I've got on the shelf.
