put the guitar body in a bag and tape it up
or you will get steel dust all over your pickups!

its a really gentle five minute mod, mine is actually coming back to gloss
after a couple of months so i will go over it again

Ah yes, definitely.
I don't want to ruin my pickups that I'm changing out. :) But yeah, I might be selling them on here anyhow so I wouldn't want to give anyone pickups covered in steel wool.

One question though, when using the steel wool, does it make the neck all scratchy looking? Or is it a smoother look and feel? I want the neck to be as smooth as possible. My only gripe with glossy nitro necks is the sticky-ness of them. I prefer a nice worn-in feel like my other guitars have.

hi

my neck is poly laquered, I dont know about nitro finishes
the finish is flawless and you cant see any scratches or anything at all
its just matt instead of gloss

I would check somewhere though before you go at the lot
I cant guarantee that all 0000 grades are created equal

Regards

just to clairfy, you need to get #00000 - that's (5)five zeros.  Super fine they call it -not to be used on, in or around your pants...

I used a green dish scrubby on my les paul neck to matt the finish, and then gave it a polish with some tcut. Worked fine. Green scrubby would also be useful for getting any stains out of your jeans you may have created in your previous rubbing...

Alright so #00000 steel wool and green dish scrubby for jeans.

Should be good to go.
