sneak peak: korinamaster
i haven't done much work on this project for the last few months, it's kinda been on hold due to various other things, but i thought you guys might be interested to see how it's shaping up.
all i need to get for it now is a neck and a tailpiece, still haven't decided which type of neck to go with

Re: sneak peak: korinamaster
hey i was just thinking about this project the other day! i was going to ask you how it was coming along, but i guess i didn´t need to
i think a matching korina neck with CBS headstock would look killer on this guitar. if that´s even possible... my other suggestion would be black CBS headstock with a gold fearless logo, sorta gibson style.
btw, i love those orange streaks in the wood, they came out magnificent with the clear coat

That looks fantastic! Such beautiful wood.
If you could get a matching headstock, that would look just right I think.

Thats a really great body! is it just me or does it look thicker than a standard JM body? (I'm Probably just seeing things....)
Korina neck with ebony (to match the pickguard) and CBS headstock would be niiiiceeee... what kind of pickups you got in it?

Re: sneak peak: korinamaster
thanks guys,
yes this wood is quite extraordinary, it's also a really nice wood to work with, very easy to rout, plane and cut.
the pickups are both seymour duncan, the bridge is a 'vintage', and the neck is a 'quarter pounder', can't wait to hear what they sound like!
hmm, ebony and korina neck, sounds good! i bet i could get something like that from warmoth, otherwise, i'm going for a musicraft genuine jazzmaster headstock neck.

Re: sneak peak: korinamaster
It looks really good Neale. As everyone else said, the grain is really beautiful. I just got my Allparts LRO neck last week. I reshaped the headstock with no problems and it matches up perfectly to my real ones. Overall, the quality is really nice. I already stained and cleared it too and also installed a Tusq nut As soon as my hardware gets here I'll have my project all buttoned up Some of it was backordered and the place didn't tell me For as cheap as it was, I think the Allparts neck is a really good buy. The grain in the rosewood board even looks really nice. I want to try one of those Musikraft necks sometime though. If you end up getting one, definitely let us know what you think.nealescott wrote: hmm, ebony and korina neck, sounds good! i bet i could get something like that from warmoth, otherwise, i'm going for a musicraft genuine jazzmaster headstock neck.

Re: sneak peak: korinamaster
Wow, that looks killer indeed.
How did you treated the body? Laquer or oil? It really looks superb.
I'm wondering because I still got to get some sort of finish for my Paduak tele, to keep it from drying out.
Hmmm a korina body is also on my wish list, since I really like the exotic woods a lot.

Re: sneak peak: korinamaster
the body is finished with 4 or 5 coats of danish oil.
i used clear nitro on my last guitar but that stuff is so toxic and nasty to work with that i'd much rather use french polishing techniques and more benign fluids ike shellac and danish oil, it has a really beautiful shine to it.
