Re: anyone ever spraypaint their covers?
I've never done the covers, but I sprayed my pickguard. I just scuffed it up with some 0000 steel wool, then painted it on with several thin coats. Then I did a couple clear coats over it. It's not chipped off or worn through yet, and I beat the crap out of it with thick guitar picks. A lot of people use krylon fusion paint, which supposedly bonds with the plastic better than regular polyurethane, but I didn't worry about it, since I planned to buy a new black guard later anyway. As long as you scuff it up before painting, and let it cure properly, you should have nothing to worry about.

I have spray painted pickup covers before. I used flat black, Rust-Oleum brand high heat stove and barbeque paint.

I've used an acrylic clearcoat to preserve the signatures on my JM..it's still fine, keep in mind that I use alluminium picks..

Re: anyone ever spraypaint their covers?
Did you scuff them up and wash them before you painted. I know for sure you didn't let them cure long enough. When I paint something, I scuff it up with some light sand paper or 0000 steel wool. Then I wash it with dish washing soap (if small enough) and from then on I only touch it with tools or rubber gloves. Then paint and let it cure for a week or as long as I can stand it, usually two days.
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.
