Possible to modify USACG headstock to Jaguar headstock?

Post by uvacom » Wed Aug 01, 2007 7:20 pm

Pretty much as the question states - is this possible, with their CBS-style headstock? I did try to superimpose their headstock over a jag headstock, and it looked like the tuning pegs were drilled at a different angle relative to the nut...but maybe I'm just suck w/ the photoshop (or GIMP, as it were).

I'm pretty sure someone on the forum has done it, and not long ago... I just can't remember who. :'(

It's done easily from what I undestand. The thing you'll find about original fenders is alot of things will varry from guitar to guitar because alot was done by hand. Search Mods/Projects/Restorations for more info.

Yup.  I did:

And Sookwinder did:

There may be others.  It's pretty straightforward if you have a good template.

It depends on if it was the  USA 2 or USA 3. 2 is the strat size, 3 is the CBS size. If it's the 2, it's too small for a Jag by about 1/2 inch,  but you can cut it to a strat shape. If it's a 3 it's about 1/2 inch too big, so take a Jag/JM headstock shape and trace onto the headstock and then cut it.

Good news then! I was mostly worried that the top edge (by the tuner holes) was the wrong angle, but it looks like that's a non-issue. Thanks!
