Does anyone know of a substance one can use to fill in a chunk that's missing from some binding? It's not a section of binding that's missing just a little bit that was accidently filed away.
I'm asking for "a friend"...

Re: Fixing binding...
I've seen binding repairs done by sanding a scrap piece of binding and mixing the dust with super glue, then building up the missing area. Build up, fine wetsand, let dry, build up, fine wetsand, let dry, build up, fine wetsand...let dry and you're good as new.

Yeah, that's the way I've seen it done as well. It is a painfully slow process. Take your time.

Re: Fixing binding...
What I do is take a small piece of the same binding and disolve it with a bit of acetone until I have a thick gob and then I take small drops and put it onto the spot, building it up until it is slightly higher than the surrounding binding. Then I take a fine sandng stick, an emory board will work, but not the best. Then use fine sandpaper, finer and finer. Don't get it on the finish, it will soften it and stick to it.
