They were great :)

It's red. I love it.

Dyeing maple is pretty hard to get right. Even with the washcoat it's a little blotchy but overall I like it. Maybe a tinted coat or two, we'll see.

Right now I'll let it dry fully and then do some clear shellac coats.

Mmm I like it:

Couple of lightly wiped on shellac seal coats. It looks less blotchy now. With the binding scraped back I really like the contrast between the bright white and the red.

I wound up the first P90. It has 10,542 winds of 42AWG wire.

I just had to do a little mockup...

I'm getting all my wisdom teeth extracted the day after tomorrow. Since I will be out of commission for a bit I'm just going to wipe a couple more thin shellac coats to make sure it's sealed up and put it together tomorrow night so I can play it for a bit.

I think I might order a preval and shoot a couple thin red tinted coats before moving on to top coats.

I definitely want to hear this when you've finished with it.

I will definitely make a vid ;D .

I just picked up some M4 bolts to cut the heads off and use for bridge posts. I don't know why they sell the bridges with puny bridge posts. They look like about 5mm would be sunk into the guitar? I got some 40mm bolts and the body is only 35mm thick so I'll probably sink them down 30mm.

In case anyone wants to flip the bolt around on the GFS style "vintage" style vibrato bar like I am, the bolt is an M5 thread. I picked up a nice acorn nut so I can put that on the exterior and remove the trem arm when I want to put the guitar in the case.

Home Depot didn't have any of the metric hardware I wanted, found it all at Canadian tire...

Was never really a huge fan of this style of guitar, or red guitars in general, but I saw that and :?

You know, I never really considered any kind of egg to guitar to be suitable for me. They're neat, but a bit of a novelty. But watching this build and the design on piece you're making here is giving me serious GAS for that guitar. The red is perfect. It seems like a really satisfying guitar to strap on and jam with. A bit of a nothing statement, but I'm really enjoying this build.
