Btw, I love your tool for placing the bridge! That's a great Idea!

If I had the right tools it would be cool to do a 45 degree bevel. I just lightly sanded it. I dont' think it will be so noticeable once it's all put together. I kind of like it now.newdawnfades wrote:loving this build, gotta get my template made so i can make my phantom, btw, i think you should round over or like blend in the edges around the trem route, would make it look like a nice transistion

Thanks, the finishing sanding is done and the grain filler (timbermate walnut) has been applied and dried.TristanGray wrote:this build is absurd! what a great job. love the pick guard. can't wait for the next update!

So, you fretted first, so there's no overlap of the crown, so.... is that the kind of binding Gibson does? How did you cut down the binding to the profile of the frets?
I like this method. It seems easier, but also classier than inlay binding w/ crown overlap.
BTW it's really inspiring how you keep going in spite of little cock ups, and still end up with such a clean build.

So you decided to go red - interesting.
I kind of like it natural... but this build is so super-awesome, I trust where you're taking it.
Can't wait to see the red!
I really love this build

Thanks. Yes this is how Gibson and most people who make Les Pauls do it. I think I will move away from this though. I want to start fretting with the board on the neck. Apparently it's still possible to carefully file the fret ends flush with the board and then glue on the binding with it all on the neck already.seenoevil wrote:So, you fretted first, so there's no overlap of the crown, so.... is that the kind of binding Gibson does? Some people use a reverse chucked bit in a dremel to clean between the frets. I just use a razor blade. Carefully slicing and scraping the binding between the frets. It's not that hard really.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I just put a 1# shellac wash coat on. Wow the wood is super nice. Hard to photo since the alcohol evaporates and it looks dry quickly.
As amazing as it looks natural it needs the red in my opinion.

Maybe I can just come visit it some time.
Or if you're playing out, let me know! I can try and catch it in action...
Does anybody play Call The Office anymore?
We were there in the spring and it seemed a lot less "exciting" than I remembered...

Have you heard of Teenanger? They're some friends from Toronto. They played Call the Office. It was a Thursday but man it was dead in there. I don't really go out often here.hansonparry wrote:Maybe I can just come visit it some time.
