Not that the wood grain pickguard looks bad by any means... But holy hell if a spitfire tort wouldn't blow that thing up!

Sweet guitar!

I usually don't like stickers on guitars but that duck gets my thumbs up.

Hi there,
I'm seriously thinking about building my "Dream Jaguar" using a MJT kit. Aesthetically, it would be very close to Fender's 50th anniversary Jag (which, in my opinion, seems to be no more than an overpriced Classic Player Jaguar).

Here's what's in my mind :

- Very slightly relic'd Burgundy Mist Metallic body
- Brown Tortoise PG
- Bridge : still hesitating, I'd like to avoid the vintage crap-o-bridge, maybe a Tune-o-Matic or a Mustang bridge, but that will also depend from the fingerboard's radius (see below)
- Tremolo : MJT told me they'd provide an AllParts piece, which seems to be low-quality stuff (there's no locking system on these). Also, I prefer by far a trem arm without screw, the slot-in system (like on the VM Squiers) is nice enough for me.
- Neck : dunno what to do... Musikraft seems to provide excellent necks, I may go for a B+B on rosewood/maple neck, an probably a 7,5" => 9,5" compound radius (thus, problems choosing the bridge). The big hesitation is with the rear and fret profiles, I haven't tried many different necks, but I know I like my frets wide and low. The most comfortable neck I've played in the one of my Aerodyne Telecaster, which seems to be a "D" profile with medium jumbo frets. So maybe a "D" or "C" shape with 6150 or 6130 frets ?

So there we are, I someone has built a MJT Jaguar, please share your experience and feelings about that !
Also, it seems that the first Jaguar bodies provided by MJT were badly designed and the standard hardware did not fit, does anyone know if this has been corrected ?

Thanks !

Bumping an old thread because I got some good pics of my Tele and I want to see more MJT guitars!

I originally wanted to get this exact colour from MJT without the aging, but I saw this one for sale here in Australia for a great price.
So I ended up getting this and it saved me heaps of money rather than buying one direct, paying for shipping, buying pickups etc.

I'm super happy with it. The neck is amazing - it's from a Mexican Road Worn Tele. It has a chunky profile, jumbo frets and has the finish sanded off the back.

Next guitar is probably going to be an MJT Jazzmaster (non aged).

Very nice tele !

I've been thinking asking MJT to make me a jazzmaster body, but the pictures on the website are taken in lighting conditions that make the actual colors difficult to figure in my opinion.
So, does anyone have a Sherwood green or Ocean turquoise guitar from MJT?

I'd love to see some more pictures from those who have MJT builds! Definitely gonna get something done by them when I have the money.

here's my most recent build:

my thoughts, concerning MJT:
1. They do a great job with communication
2. The wait is a little longer, since they use Nitro
3. The relic jobs they do are superb
4. the "Closet Clean" tends to show a 'hurried up' finish
5. They work with custom orders very well (matched a cavity to a pickguard i provided)

#4 was based upon the above guitar. I am happy with it, but the buffing looked only partially completed, compared to other guitar finished i've had. Dull in some places and nice and smooth on others.

Did MJT do the relic job? Your Jag looks absolutely killer. I'm very impressed.

They did, I was VERY specific about what I wanted, and used pictures of two actual guitars to guide the amount and type of "medium to light" relicing. I also asked for cream primer instead of white, and limited the forearm wear as it makes it very easy to spot when people overdo these choices.

If I had any advice it would be drive the conversation yourself, be conservative with your relicing as you can get more added if you want but can't remove it, and provide them with pictures of what you want, not just their gallery options.
