I'll just add that, having lived with my vintage spec Jazzmaster pickup set for a while now, I'm 100% sold on Jess's pickups.

Definitely the best deal to be had for anyone in Europe, but also worth buying if you're elsewhere.

His service is rubbish. I had a microphonic pickup and he said he'd send me a new one, but he never did and now he's ignoring my mails lol.

Just to offer another viewpoint: I just ordered two JM pickups from him a few weeks ago and found his service to be great. Quick responses, made some solid suggestions, and the pickups arrived less than a week (from Spain to Germany) after ordering. I'm waiting on some other parts before I put them in, so I can't judge the sound quite yet; but the service was solid.

How long has it been since you talked to him about a replacement? Based on his service with me and the other things I've read, I can't imagine him just flaking out like that.

An update: I finally got around to putting the PUs in, and they sound great. A huge step up from the original CIJ pickups - especially with regards to the bridge pickup, which was basically unusable IMO. I recorded a few samples of the CIJ PUs to compare, once I get around to recording something with the new ones I'll post some clips.

Any sentence which ends itself with "lol." becomes invalid.

I REALLY want to try a JM pickup. TBH I kinda wish I'd used 'em instead of the tele/strat combo I went with... I'll have to try one in a shop or something soon.

Sugarape. Uh, Sugarmouse, I mean. In NORWICH! How did you get to do that? How did the Metal Mafia not kill you dead? I am excited. I want to come and see you soon. I am a Swaffham boy, see, and I lack culture.

If you're in the UK, Marc of Mojo Pickups' JM pickups are held in high regard. He did my broadcaster pickup, and I love it. Just another option.

@ TalkingBook; I just don't get a response anymore. He said he'd send a new pickup... maybe it went lost or something. I agree with you; they sound really great! And aren't too expensive either.

@ EdGrip; The Metal Maffia will never get me! And I will never use 'lol' again. Truce?

^_^ Truce! (though the Sugarmouse bit was for sonicad, whose band have that name. The music scene in Norwich is notoriously heavy-metal-heavy. metal.

That's definitely worrying supa. I was considering ordering some P-bass pickups from him; I'll have to ask for some clarification about your situation. Obviously I don't want to be doing business with someone who won't live up to his promises.

Well, it sounds like his heart is in the right place at least. But the guy really needs to check his emails more often if that's the case. :P

Well... Bad experience with Jess Loureiro.

I've bought several pairs of what he calls "fender jaguar 60's replica pick ups" on ebay. Seller does not answer to emails, well...

i've received the pickups, mounted them. Sounds quite correct, but nothing's amazing. The pickups are quite flat, with a lot (a lot!) of treble...

Well, waiting for the two other pairs of pickups, for a total cost of 180€uros/more or less 230USD... Never received them ; Jess Loureiro does not answer to my emails since 3 weeks...

Not answering to emails because of too many of them, well, I can admit it. But not sending what the customers have bought, that's an other story. Fortunately i've paid with paypal, so I can start a dispute...

I'm really disappointed and quite angry... >:(

I ve had deals with Jess 3 times
Pair of aged HB PAF 57, really nice & creamy
Custom specs single coil, Pbass sounding Musicmaster bass pickup: simply amazingly punchy!
57 stratocaster set, his webshop standard, really vintage sounding

No issues regarding shipping, e mails or whatever... I recommend buying straight from his web shop, though (no bay of E, his site).Probably quicker response.

I've actually just started to get in contact with Jess because of this thread, and I got my first reply within a day. Seems helpful enough and the JM pickups on offer look great. Also his returns policy sounds excellent, nothing to lose at that price and if I'm not happy I get my money back. Seems very fair to me.

I just picked up a Q series Jaguar with Jess's pick ups in - they sound fantastic compared to the ones in my CIJ jaguar - chiming clears and brilliant bite when you add a fuzz pedal.
