I didn't know if this was a Misc section, or projects section thread, since I need help with miscellaneous aspect of my guitar projects...

I need to find a name for my projects. I suppose eventually to use as a sort of brand name...

AndrewDoesHair doesn't seem cool to plaster onto a guitar...

I have a friend who is business savvy and he urged me to get a name immediately, so about this time last year I started using the term GarageTone to label my projects (my username is Garagetone at Jagstang.com but IO stopped posting there when I hit on a chick that ended up being a dood with a picture of a chick as his avatar). Google turned up nothing under the compounded word garagetone at that time, and I never did anything to make it mine legally. Sure enough, some company started using the term Garagetone for their pedals, and I got the feeling I'd end up with a cease and desist if I kept using it... Plus, it seems kind of gimmicky, but mostly amateur, to hint to the fact that my guitars are ACTUALLY coming from a garage at this point...

So, anyone have any ideas? My name doesn't sound cool, like "Paul Rhoney" or "Paul Reed Smith"

I figure after I have my own name, I will come up with a unique headstock shape, and then start pushing out my original design ideas... Not to mention a website, probably a business license, and an all-around more-serious approach to this hobby...

I've been wrestling with the same issue for a while. It would be a shame if you lost all connection to the ADH name, since it already gets mentioned all over the place here and on shortscale and elsewhere. Adherent Guitars? Adhesive Tone?

EDIT: actually ADH Guitars above is vague enough to work nicely.

Pffft! "Andrew Kozak" sounsd cooler than "Paul Rhoney" imho. I don't know if California has exactly the same laws as Oregon, but as a sole proprietorship, you can legally do business in Oregon without even registering anything as long as your company name is just your own name including your middle initial. So before I registered as "Paul Rhoney Guitar Co." I was just "Paul K. Rhoney", and I used a subtitle under my name in the logo that just said "Handmade Electric Guitars."

I don't see anything wrong with AndrewDoesGuitars, ADG, ADGuitars, etc. Maybe because I've seen you post so much if I ever saw IRL I'd have trouble not calling you andrewdoeshair. Anything apart from that you'd have to really just figure out what you'd like to personally stamp on your guitars.

Kozak could work on it's own I think, but really, since your a one man, mostly custom guitar operation, I Andrewdoeshair is fine; it could kind of be like a inside joke among everyone who owns one. it's just (seemingly) random enough to work.
