if this is possible, it has to be made, I think that looks ric enough and dayum is it sexy :-*
I like the look of the original designs... not the soundhole-through-pickguard stuff. But even though I like it, there is not a lot of Ric going on. One suggestion: Starblaster body bound on the back side with checkered binding, with a large roundover on the top edges like a real 360(the black guitar in the OP) has.

And pay Paul to do a ramp... hehe.

What about spraying lacquer on the fretboard? That would surely give it more of a Ric feel.

Instead of the butt cut, you could shape down the horns to a more Ricky curve, plus your logo should be on a spear.

i prefer the starcaster shape myself. and the small toaster pickups, mustang bridge and floating trem all improve the overall look of the starcaster.

does the starcaster have an arched top? if not, will the neck be angled a bit to give it some more sustain?

thinking of making more than one? ;)

Yeah, that's hot. Might be too Ric for the OP though, or too expensive.

I like the Ric ramp idea in conjunction with the Jazzmaster tailpiece. Teisco or someone did that combo too, seems like a good way to address the string break angle issue. But definitely at a price.

I'm really curious to hear how the Jazzmaster bridge assembly sounds on a semihollow, since my impression is that it was originally designed to impart some of that twangy hollow sound to solidbody guitars.

Actually, the horns are cut from inside the Starcaster shape so that Paul's template could still be used. Still required more time than the standard shape, but it's a bit easier to take away then add to the shape. And the spear on the headstock could be done in clear plexi with a "Rhoney" decal underneath, and white plain under that.

I like the idea of the Rick ramp too, but only instead of, not in addition to, an arm contour. Maybe a trade off in the time involved? ;)

This is really cool, but I'm thinking we should butt out now considering Paul already kind of told us to (in much nicer words with reasoning attached), and besides that we're neither the client nor the builder. Time and place guys; sorry for starting this.

I guess I misread; I though he was still open to ideas that could be done with minimal extra work. That's why I suggested Rick-ish cutaways that are inside the shape of the Starcaster body. All I did was overlay two ovals on the previous image and then added the spear. So, while I'm no expert on woodworking, and certainly no-one to tell Paul or PullOut what to do, I thought this ads a great deal of "Ricky-ness" without trying to arrange a second pickguard or the Rick route. If I had the bread, this is what I'd want, as I think it's sufficiently "Fab". ;)

Anyway, good luck with the build!

It's all good guys, don't let me stop you from throwing out ideas. Just be understanding with the direction this project goes as being something that Pullout and I are both comfortable and happy with.

I actually Mel's idea a lot. :)

I really like your design, I think that with a tweaked (no horn) version of my pickguard would be awesome; I just figured we should stop "cluttering" the thread. But since paul's cool with it, let go nuts :D

Yeah, Mel I think your design is really cool. I just think I like the regular starcaster body better. I AM very into triangle inlays and the logo on a spear if Paul's up for it though.
As Han Solo said, “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good Blaster at your side, kid."

Right on - it'll be a sharp guitar either way, and, well, it's your guitar! :)

I look forward to following the progress.

Love, love, love this design. I think I might have a go at it. Paul, did anything ever come of this? I'm really curious about whether this design would work and which one you decided on!
