That's pretty remarkable to keep the cost under $100. That's not an easy task. Looks good.

Really psyched on this one. Been wanting to do a 3 tone burst on one of my builds for the longest time! I'm a big fan of the mid 60s target bursts, so that's what I was shooting for on this one. Looking forward to spraying some clear and finishing this one up.

That's a good job of spraying. Nice and even. The clear will really do it.

Back on this after a long hibernation- just finishing up the body, and I've just added some grain filler around the part of the recessed section of the body that won't be covered by the pickguard. Not sure if it's actually necessary, as I've decided to try vinyl wrap instead of painting, but better safe than sorry. The main part of the front has already been skimmed with epoxy, then sanded back. Way too much work, I should have just used grain filler. :fp: (Paint was still the plan at that stage) Still some decisions to make re how to do the back, sides and the output jack, but it's moving along.

Nice to see you're back at the proverbial workbench...I'm really looking forward to seeing this one complete, I remember the neck looked really good with all that cool inlay work...This big triangle totally agrees with my eyes :)

^Cheers :) I've now sealed the body and 600 wet-sanded the areas that will be receiving the vinyl (due in part to going back and re-reading your findings about applying the stuff). I spent a bit of time last night applying the wrap to an old guitar body for practice. Of course the sanding/ sealing exposed a few dings and sand scratches (so glad I'm not painting it!) Hopefully the vinyl will conceal them- if not, it's Alligator patterned, so I'll just say the flaws are scars. I know people will believe me.

Out of curiosity, what vinyl wrap did you get? I ended up stripping mine completely (the wrap didn't even survive the removing of the neck), but once again I think the stuff I used was non-permanent wrap with a crap adhesive. I know Cross made a cool one with wrap (he mentioned it briefly in his video interview) and his looked really good. The thing I'm sure of is that you want to put some clear on top of your vinyl, otherwise it'll be too fragile to withstand regular guitar abuse. For all its faults, the wrap I used did a good job at masking the sanding scratches that were left by the sealing process.

No pics at the moment, but a friend of mine has bought one of these

https://www.andertons.co.uk/epiphone-le ... gJ2EPD_BwE

and asked me to turn it into a 12 string for him.

All of my projects, to date have been kinda ... do or die restorations of glorious old beaters, so it's really fun to do something a bit more straightforward. Chinese paddle headstock neck, spot of fretwork, tru oil finish, 6 string anchor behind the original bridge...
