Technically no longer on the workbench, came off it last year.....
That is a great looking guitar. What is the size? Is it based on something or original? That smaller body looks very comfortable.

I never liked zero frets due to the strings wearing notches into them necessitating fret work or replacement of the zero fret, but a stainless steel zero fret would solve that nicely. I may have to reconsider my stance on them.
Thanks, I like it too. Outline and headstock are based on a Gretsch 6120 double cut away so exact dimensions there. The body is fairly thin, about 50mm on the edge. Carved top inside and outside, straight back.

VERY nice! I love the color, and the poles on the pickups are really cool too!
Thanks, Pickups comprise 6 coils (1 per string), the pole piece is the actual magnet and the pickup covers are made from ebony.

Did you do this for individual outputs? Ease of winding? Alternative humbucking? Output Balancing? Other?

I played about with this once upon a time, but there was two much bleed from adjacent string for my needs. It was quick and fun to wind those coils though, so easy compared to the normal pickup shapes.

Cool, I was going to ask about these. And what oid said- how? why? etc

No bleed at all, so not sure what you tried. The original Ray Butts patent for the Filtertron is with individual coils but he never made one. Anyway, I wanted something different, different sounds, etc, so created one. Currently I have wired them in humbucking mode, all six coils in series. I can also switch it to to two sets of 3coils each in parallel... I have been thinking of bringing all the coil wires out so that I can switch individual strings on/off. Or (if one wanted) I can 'send' each coil's output to a different amp

So each of your questions was part of the equation, especially the output balancing, which I have incorporated into my design.

Here a youtube clip sound sample:

You went with much smaller coils, that is why you are free of bleed, I was needing a fair amount of output from single coils.

I may have to revive those pickups.

Not my "work bench", but my current project.

Thanks a bunch guys. I'm excited. It's going to be a jazzblaster. I've got some Novak WRHBs on the way. It is a squire deluxe that I had refinished by Marty Bell. The trem is a spare Johnny Marr Jag trem I had laying around

Just finishing cleaning up a spare room. Fresh paint everywhere, new rug and a guitar storage rail.
I have room for more hangers still, so I'll have to get some more guitars, amps, a stool, and a nice pedalboard setup.

Those are great sounding pickups! And yes I'm in Auckland, would be good to catch at some point.
