That's really cool looking! What're thinking about for the finish?

I'll leave it bare for now. It's a prototype to see if I want to make a nicer one. If I like it, I'll put some clear water based poly on it later.

It's actually much greener than it appears in the photo and looks like this in person:
That's awesome!

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Made a support for cutting or drilling long boards for the garage. I was inspired by April Wilkerson's drill press stand, where she made these 2 adjustable wings on the side of her stand, for exactly this reason. The only problem with that is 1) I've already got my drill press on a stand (that I love), and 2), on hers they were a bit too close to be able to help with really long boards. So, with her cool design in my head, I made it a standalone unit:
I made the base an open-ended box with a support in the middle for strength, and for the main body above the bottom box, it's like an I-beam in a vertical position (also for strength). T-bolt and a nut to secure a 5/16" routered channel in the board that moves, and a little bit of support at the top. What you'll notice in both of these pictures, is a little piece of plywood with 7 cheap rollers on them at the bottom (above the bottom box). I made a little board with rollers on the top, and 3 3/8" diameter dowel rods on the bottom. It's only in its storage place in these 2 pictures. This is what it's for:
If I've got a long board and need to make several cuts or drill several holes, with this attachment, I can lower the piece just a little bit, and have it roll smoothly back and forth without having to worry about the stand falling over. Honestly, that's not very likely, as the bricks I have in the bottom box ($4 for both!!) together weigh about 50 lbs., but still, I thought it was a nice feature, and it was simple to make.

That's a nice support. Good idea to put the concrete stepping stoned in the base for weight.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Thanks! The bitch was trying to figure out which brick to use, maximizing weight and minimizing space they would take up. I spent like an hour at Menards looking at different bricks The nice thing though, is that if/when I move, or need to use it somewhere else, I can take the bricks out and the whole thing is crazy light-weight.

LOL, isn't it interesting how much research a simple solution can sometimes take?Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:20 pmThanks! Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Seriously. It doesn't help that I can really easily obsess over the most minute details too. I'd rather be over-prepared and under, but sometimes the projects that work the best are the simple ones with little to no research, but maybe I'm confusing "best" with "most fun"

Agreed! But sometimes I think that if you're enjoying it more, the end result will be better. Something about putting your soul into your work, you know?
