Thanks, Pickups comprise 6 coils (1 per string), the pole piece is the actual magnet and the pickup covers are made from ebony.
Did you do this for individual outputs? Ease of winding? Alternative humbucking? Output Balancing? Other?
I played about with this once upon a time, but there was two much bleed from adjacent string for my needs. It was quick and fun to wind those coils though, so easy compared to the normal pickup shapes.
Cool, I was going to ask about these. And what oid said- how? why? etc
No bleed at all, so not sure what you tried. The original Ray Butts patent for the Filtertron is with individual coils but he never made one. Anyway, I wanted something different, different sounds, etc, so created one. Currently I have wired them in humbucking mode, all six coils in series. I can also switch it to to two sets of 3coils each in parallel... I have been thinking of bringing all the coil wires out so that I can switch individual strings on/off. Or (if one wanted) I can 'send' each coil's output to a different amp
So each of your questions was part of the equation, especially the output balancing, which I have incorporated into my design.
