That's pure :? once more Toots...
Kudos for the closed P90 covers, they add an extra-cool smoothness to the top. I assume the pickups inside are still single coils of sorts since the height screws can still go through the middle of the bobbin?
And is the bridge completely home-made? I love the sound of those off-the-body metal plates, it must give the guitar a hell of an acoustic resonance combined with the semi-hollow body!

I love the yellow-orange color Toots and the tort on the other one. What's the story on the pointer knob on the upper horn?
It’s a three way rotary pickup switch. The little push button, also on the pickguard, is a cocked wah.

:) They are actually not p90 covers. These are much smaller. I vacuum formed them myself.
Pickups are constructed almost like a p90 though. AWG42, alnico V, low output, 4/4.4k
I had the bridge plate laser cut from stainless steel.
Saddle is aluminium, shaped by hand.

That is cool as! What material did you use for the pickup covers?

I was asking about the actual knob. I don't recall seeing one quite like that before. I thought it might be something re-purposed or custom, because in one picture it looks like it has wood inlaid on top.

It’s just black plastic. Don’t remember where I bought it, but I have seen them in a few different places.

I bet this thing rings like a bell. What's the scale length on this beauty?
Love the overall look/ colour combo on the other one too. Inspiring stuff as always. :-*

It sounds great. I have another base plate, and I might try a wood saddle for that one.
Both of the guitars have a 23.3” scale. It’s my favourite scale by far.

Really inspiring work, coolest original guitar design I've seen in a long while and flawless execution.

Thunderous applause for taking the leap and going all the way with the bespoke bridge hardware and pickups too; it's really refreshing to see a beautiful and thoughtful original design's sparkle untarnished by the usual derivative (and often looking out of place) TOM/cutoff tele bridge, humbuckers/$trat pickups, etc which IMO can detract from an otherwise creative and novel design.

A 23.3" scale sounds like a nice medium between 24" and the 22.5" scale of old Musicmasters and Duo Sonics, which I always found a bit too slinky-feeling, I'd love to try that out some day :)

^ Seriously cool, smart and thoughtful design!

Beds take up so much space and often have no storage capability whatsoever. That aspect and the ease of (dis)assembly/portability are brilliant.

Shadoweclipse13, love what you're doing for the bed. My first big diy furniture project was a platform bed that I designed to be disassembled. I moved it in and out of three different places before I upgraded it.
Thanks guys! It might be a few weeks until I can start doing my finish work (and it's killing me!), but as of this past Friday, all my woodworking stuff is in the new apartment, and that makes me very happy. I have a lot of crap to go through in the garage before I can start doing any work, but it's all here. I'm tempted to just use the unfinished bed frame under the bed for a few weeks to help with space in the garage while I'm organizing stuff. Might be fun to take it for a "test drive" :D

I actually think that if I ever get a house/permanent residence, I might rebuild it, simpler, as one piece, but I suspect that's a long way off.

Douglas fir non-reverse with cherry top. I printed the template at 93% so it’s a little smaller. Someday it will be in the ‘bound offset feed’

That carve is super interesting. Very nice work!
Thank you! Shaping that arm contour in and blending into the rest of the carve is definitely my favorite part of the whole build process on these.

Thanks so much! The headstock shape was an important design feature for me. Headstocks can be tough. I tried to come up with something original, but at the same time not too far fetched looking.

I've got another Stella in the works that I'm finishing up now. It'll be the first one I've built with a Bigsby B5. Can't wait to get it wrapped up!
