Thanks man! Thinking aged LPB for the Jag and Butterscotch for the Tele. Bit too cold to be spraying at the moment and I don't really have a good enough space to shoot it in my shed so hoping for better weather in the next few months.cooterfinger wrote:Nice job. Got any colors in mind?bdf83 wrote:

Perfect colors for both. Weather hasn't been cooperating here either. I've got a couple waiting in the wings for paint. It'll happen when it happens.bdf83 wrote:Thanks man! Yeah both are the colours that I think of if you said Jag or Tele so figured I'd go with them. Figure they're pretty timeless. Might have a workaround for spraying earlier but will have to see what i can come up with.cooterfinger wrote: Perfect colors for both. Weather hasn't been cooperating here either. Re: What's on your workbench right now?
My Squier Bass VI project is finally(!) nearing completion after two years of glacial progress. IBM refin with yellowed clearcoat, MIM trem, Staytrem VI bridge, and the usual CTS/Switchcraft electronics upgrades.
Still awaiting a new nut, Squier VI decal, knobs, and strings, and possibly a custom Jag/VI form factor Mustang bass-esque pickup for the middle position pending a few inquiries I've sent out.
Sorry for the shit pic!

Used the router on the Mad-Rite this weekend, now I'm mocking up the pickguard for it - then it's time for a trip to TAP Plastics.....looks like I got the shape right. And yes, the knobs on this guitar are that huge, I'm using some retro-70's style project knobs (that may actually BE 70's for all I know).

Now I have a pickguard made for it - Tap Plastics ABS Black Haircell - now I just need to focus on straightening out things, rounding edges over in some spots, filling in holes and gaps, and so on.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Cabinet maintenance day.
The handle of the 4x10 that I've owned for 25 years had worked loose and was rattling something awful. The nuts on the underside that hold the handle on were starting to dig into the wood, making tightening them as-is a bad idea.
I bought two wide washers for 22 cents at my local hardware store, then pulled the handle off. Cut up a cotton ball and stuffed half inside each metal part of the handle (this is trick drummers use for taming lug rattle), then reinstalled the handle using the washers under the nuts and with some purple Loctite on the bolts to keep things from rattling loose. Seems pretty solid now. We'll see.
Also re-glued the tolex that was peeling back at the edges on my other cab.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
New project: StewMac+JHS "All American Classic" kit; claims to be a RAT with extra EQ adjustment. I've been really happy with almost everything I've ever bought from StewMac, so I suspect this will be good... if I don't mess it up. I've never soldered a board before, just pots 'n' jacks 'n' pickups, you know? The real problem with this kit is that it pushes the five other unfinished projects I have to the back burner(s).

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I have a used dust collector with a motor that blows fuses. It was cheap on Craigslist and came with a nice cartridge filter and hardware that are worth the price but I hope I can get the blower going instead of trying to find another.
Next for the bench is a cold saw, not guitar related but an awesome tool.

I've been playing with dye-stabilizing wood! In this case, buckeye burl. Should have a two-color dyed top to show tomorrow in blue/purple. But for now, here's a smaller piece for parts I'm leaving as just blue:
