Ok, so i routed out the cavity wide enough so that everything lines up centered.
It worked out pretty good.
Fortunately this is a modernised JM body and I don't have to fuss about it being "vintage correct"

Getting there.

Allparts USA body, 5-6 coats of oil.
Allparts JM neck, Nitro NOS type finish.
Kluson Tuners
Mojo JM pickups
Spitfire tort

Waiting for Staytrem Bridge and hasn`t decided for trem yet.
I have an early 90`s MIj trem that might go on there for now.

That is a killer build. Very classy and clean.

How do you like the Allparts JM neck?? Curious where you grabbed it... I can't seem to find them as easy as the Strat ones. Definitely not as cheap either.

I bought it from a store on Reverb called "1950s Finishes". The frets where levelled and crowned and a Graphtech nut was installed. Great work on both the finishing and set up.

Sure looks nice. It's a 25.5" scale yes?

No clear plan for this one. I managed to successfully cut a 1° neck pocket for this build which is a first. :)

Celluloid tortoise shell.

It doesn't quite match the guard but i can look out for one that does later.

Edit...

Just realised you were probably asking about the neck on that lovely guitar above mine! :D

On my virtual workbench I've just been playing around with carved top / hollow body ideas. I'm still undecided about the little humps under the toggle switch and tone knob - on the plus side, they balance some of the fussier detailing around the horns / cutaways, but I don't know whether it's starting to look a little too 'premium' and not enough retro cool!

PRS use a similar feature in recessing knobs and switches, but I wondered how it would look to have them proud of the surface like this. The way I make my hollow bodies, I don't think I'd have enough thickness left in that location to mount them if I used a recess like that - the top would only have 3mm or so for them to grab onto. I also wonder whether it is creating a problem with sanding - it's much easier to sand the top and ignore recesses than it is to avoid the little humps!

Anyway, there it is! Let me know your thoughts if you have any :)

Outstanding, DP! What a fine design. Balanced looking. Pleasing to the eye. Good usable layout. What's left? Build one! :?
