Messed up Tuner shafts

Post by Pumpkin » Mon Jan 08, 2007 6:51 pm

3 of the F tuners on my 66  are bent slightly and it is making it a fucking ass to tune,so....can i bend these without breaking them?should i use heat from the soldering iron first?
If tuning was no prob I wouldn't bother with it but i just set down to play and "FUCK THESE TUNERS"!
It's causing me unneeded head fuck and I'm close to throwing the whole guitar in the trash. >:(

Any ideas to get 'em straight?

I don't mind a little swearing, in context .. helps remind me I'm no longer in the bad place with the nasty men.

As for the tuners .. which bit is bent? The split shaft? The tuning key?

I forgot about this thread......that is until 10 minutes ago when i broke my tuners trying to straighten them.
It is the bit with the button on it,they're all bent and one snapped in half.
So.....i just ordered new ones,i dont care about vintage authenticity so i got these rather than direct replacement F tuners.

I was gonna get Klusons from WD,but they wanted $25 US for shipping,GPR sent me the tuners and other stuff for $6 shipping.
So, now i got  Ftuners,3 of which are fine,2 ok,1 in bits. :'(
On the bright side,I'l be able to tune the mustang properly now.  :)

Damn,i did swear a lot in the OP didn't i........must have been pissed, :o

Won't you need to drill extra holes to fit those?

Sure will, don't bother me tho,its just a guitar.I'll be so happy to tune it without a hydraulic vice to hold it in. LOL :'(

I expect that maybe the end hole on the 6th and 1st may show even once the new tuners are on,but the rest won't of course.I don't know, but it may not too.....No idea!
